Yup, it was essentially a "fur shot" last night (in this case, an "empty needle"; I put a dollar in the fur-shot basket in any event). Rusty has done his best to come back down today. Tomorrow I begin a systematic experiment with the various syringes I have here. I think Rusty's "skinny 0.1 Unit" dose is about 2 drops (maybe 1.5 drops), but with the Monojects you can't tell how much insulin hides in the "cone". I measure his dose as 0.10mm on the digital calipers. It looks like there is no space at all between the two caliper points! Then I squeeze out a fractional drop to compensate for the cone. Sometimes this works, sometimes not. Often he has a sizeable drop to the nadir, but then doesn't get enough duration and PMPS is higher than I would like. Whatever! It's probably the cat
. Rusty is about 18 years old now and some days are good days and others not so good.
Another beautiful Indian Summer day here. We did yard work all afternoon, but would have preferred to go out in the canoe. The yard work was imperative because the roofers trampled our gardens and butchered some of the tree limbs (even though we had tree guys in the previous week just to prevent the roofers from hacking away). Anyway, we raked up lots of leaves and picked up the odd roofing nail and shingle piece. The roofers were actually very good about cleaning up their debris.
Rusty had a good day of napping. He came outdoors briefly.
Wishing you all a good evening,
