Good morning, LL!! ☼☼☼
Sending vines to Liz and Anne's Tillie, Janet's Izzy, Kathie's Bubby, Angela's Bubba, Dyana, and all others in need today :YMHUG:
Thank you for the visits last night Kathie and Pam! :-D :-D

Ripley is doing great today. ♥
No news is good news  .

I've been giving Ripples a little Wellness Chicken mixed in with her regular Wellness Turkey for dinner ~ just to keep things 'interesting' for her. She loves it. Unfortunately, I think it's spiking her evening BGs. I'll probably switch back to 100% Wellness Turkey. :-|

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O)

Love that amps today Ripley. and yes, no news is good news! it is interesting on the wellness Chicken spiking the PM BG's. I ran into that with FF Chicken and Mannie. Anytime he got that one his BG's went up. Weird how some foods will do that, others not, even when the carbs are the same. It always sees to be with the fuds that they like too.

Enjoy your day today. I hope all goes ell.

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Wellness Chicken used to spike Trix's BG, too, when she was first diagnosed. (Actually, Wellness Chicken is what Trix was eating when she was diagnosed!) Anyway, any time I gave it to her, her BGs ran all over the map. That's how I ended up with FF and Purina One. But, now that she has the early CKD stuff, we're back to Wellness, and I primarily give her the chicken because she REALLY isn't fond of the Turkey. And, sure enough, as soon as I made the switch, her BGs when crazy (of course I was trying other fuds, too). Now that she's been settled on the chicken for a fair amount of imte, she does require about a unit more of juice than she did when she was on the FF. On the bright side, she IS slowly creeping down the dosing ladder.

So anyway, my point...Trix would spike from the Wellness Chicken, too, even though it is LC.

No news IS good news. Have a great day, Josie!

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Thanks for the visits, Michelle, Amy, and Devon :-D

Amy, I should've consulted you first before adding the W. Chicken ~ you're the fuds experimenter extraordinaire, after all ;-) . Thanks for your insight.

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Hi Josie. Ripely is looking great. Always nice to read an all's good report.

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Nice AMPS for Miss Ripples :-D

I have never tried the Wellness Chicken, but I think I might (Cleo has not eaten any of the Wellness without Forti Flora), just to see if she likes it, and what it does to her BG. She can eat the MaxCat savory duck (8%) and it does not raise her BG, but the 8% Venison does! And the duck smells yucky~

Hope Ripley shows you some green   with a beautiful surf~

Jane

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Josie, I'm sorry to hear about Ripley's BG spiking, but does the chicken have more carbs than turkey? Binky and Janet's food chart has both Wellness flavours at 4%. I'm sure that as LL's premiere feline fashionista, Ripley wants low BGs.

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Nice start for Ripley this morning. I wish we could just feed our kitties what they like and not have to worry about how it affects their BG.

Re: 10/22 Ripley AMPS 108

Hi Josie,
Rusty eats both Wellness Turkey and Chicken (he prefers the Turkey). I haven't noticed that they have a different effect on his bgs. He also eats FF Turkey & Giblets (which he likes the best). It used to spike his bgs, but since I have been feeding it all the time (in addition to Wellness Turkey and Chicken), it no longer does. I wonder if when they get used to a particular food their bodies just accept it and metabolize it as "normal". That is certainly what seems to be the case here with FF T&G.

Ripley, Rusty will see you in the lagoon later.

Have a good day, Josie!

Thanks for all of the visits today ♥

It's interesting getting your input on how certain foods affect kitties' BGs. Wellness Turkey and Wellness Chicken are the same carbs %, but it seems that for some reason the chicken tends cause spikes. I'm torn about whether or not to continue adding a little chicken to Ripley's dinners ~ she likes it, and it helps to keep her occupied (with eating) while I administer her sub-q fluids each evening. But she also eats the turkey flavor, and I'm not really adding that much chicken ~ I'll probably stick with it a few more nights and see if she can 'self-adjust' her numbers; if not, then I'll just go back to only turkey. Simple as that. :-D Having to choose food that is not only LC but also low-phosphorus is very limiting (as some of you know). I'm very happy with her numbers lately. Also with her general well-being. She's a content girl. :-D :-D :-D

Also, I'm experimenting with decreasing the amt. of fluids she's getting each night, from 100 ml to 75. She often seems to feel 'off' after getting 100 ml, so I wonder if she'll feel better with slightly less. Last night she was less lethargic with 75 ~ we'll see... I can always add more...

Oh the wonderful food journey   Good luck ;-)
Glad Ripley is feeling so good
Enjoy your night Josie!

Hi Josie,
Good luck with both food & fluids experiments.
I hope Wellness Chicken stops raising Ripley's BG, and that she can keep enjoying the variety.
