Thank you everyone for the responses last night. I"m going to stay steady with the 3 units for a few more days (though these high numbers are stressful) and I switched to the relion meter. The numbers seem to be about 100 points off but on either meter they are clearly too high. The vet called to say that Nimo's blood work otherwise looks very good. The funny part of all this is the diabetes caused NImo to finally drop some weight and he seems to feel so much better. The poor thing had gotten much too fat from the other food. Despite these high numbers, Nimo seems to be doing well. Just hoping the insulin starts to work soon!

I'm glad he lost a little weight. You want to make sure he doesn't loose too much, and please check for ketones everyday when he's this high, especially should he refuse food or act more lethargic.

I hope his numbers start to come down soon. The last time I looked at your spreadsheet was this morning. Did you get any more tests last night?
 
He's still 15.5 pounds and has a medium frame, he just doesn't have trouble on the stairs anymore :)
I didn't test after dinner last night because he stole a few pieces of kibble so I knew the numbers would be high.
I did test him 4x today and his numbers are still high :(
 
I know, but with him numbers coming down into the 200s last night at shot time, I would have been hopeful that they would maybe come down into the 100s during the night and set alarms to test more, but that's just me.

That's good that you got the tests in today. I am hoping that he continues to come down nice and easy and you see some more 200s tonight. Cats often go lower at night ;-)
 
Thank you for sticking with one meter. It will make it easier on you in the long run.
