Good day everyone!

I wasn't online yesterday with a condo but did check in here. Morgaine was a lovely 109 this AM. Since I was out yesterday, I was concerned about her but her numbers were fine. She stayed mostly blue though I don't know if she got a little lower but she was safe to leave all afternoon.

Meter info:

I saw my endo yesterday and asked him about the meters and the variances in the ones I have used; Freestyle Freedom Lite, Precision X-Tra, and One Touch Ultra Mini. He said that all of them do a good job, in other words, get the job done. He likes the Freestyle Freedom but wanted to be sure I had that one and not the smaller one which is just the Freestryle Lite. He knew about the Consumer Reports latest study and felt that it could be relied upon for which meters are most accurate etc, but he also said they all pass the FDA requirements so the variance isn't going to make a huge difference. My A1c using the Freestyle was in the range it was always in and he felt that was a good determiner of meter effectiveness. Of course we don't do those for our cats. I was pleased to hear that he liked the Freestyle Freedom Lite since I was concerned about its accuracy for Morgaine. Of course he thinks what I am doing for Morgaine is wonderful and said he wished all of his patients had such excellent care. I was going to show him her spreadsheet but he is MY doc and his time is limited.

I'm so glad to see Morgaine doing so awesome.

Thank you so much for sharing your endo's thoughts. I know you highly respect him and his opinion. That's a great report!!!

Hoping you two are dong well!!

Julie, I didn't see the vet. I saw my endocrinologist and we discussed meters in relation to me as I had to change to the Freestyle in Jan of this year. Because he is very informed on all things diabetes related, I knew he would have an opinion. I also shared the variances I found and he assured me that they are all good meters. Another thing he really likes about the Freestyle is the tiny amount of blood needed. It certainly makes it easier to test our cats.
