Maybe Jenks misunderstood me when I said that I hoped he would coast gently downhill last night.
He cliff dove from 145 at PMPS to 38 at +7. It took about two hours to just get him above 50, even after some 12% food and nearly 5tbsp of 21% gravy. It was a highly active cycle.
Even after all of that, I was only able to get him up to the mid-60s leading into AMPS. There was no way I was going to turn him over to OH with a full 13U dose at those numbers. I opted instead for a BCS dose of 7U. That looked to be the correct call because he had slipped back into the 50s for AMPS and remained there for at least another hour or two before starting to come up.
His last test was a 163, so I won't be surprised if we get a yellow at PMPS.
The real question now is, do I return to 13 for PMPS or do I take a reduction to 12 to see how he tolerates it? It's always a hard decision with him because something like this could be a random one-off event, which is why we usually wait to see if a pattern develops.
