10/22 Jackson - AMPS 335

I don't know what I did. I feel like a bad cat mom this morning. I always get out two syringes in the morning and use one for the AM shot and the other one left out is for the PM shot. This morning the PM syringe was still on my desk. And I remember thinking yesterday morning that there was just over one dose left in the syringe, and this morning there was still that amount left in the syringe. Yet, I tested him at PMPS and I wrote in my spreadsheet 10 in the units column and I wrote that I fed him 1 can. I think he didn't get his shot, but I'm not sure. So weird. Anyway, more filling up of that depot.

Sabrina slept with me, and seems okay this morning. At her 1st breakfast she seemed hungry as I was preparing their food (adding the Gabapentin for her, and Cabergoline for Jackson) and seemed to be lapping up her 1st breakfast. When she was "done" and left her bowl, I went to grab it before Jackson went to lick her bowl clean and to see if she had eaten it all. There was probably 2/3 of her food left in the bowl.
Both kitties are off sleeping as they do after breakfast. I have the Mirataz ready if she doesn't eat much of her 2nd breakfast.
I wonder if I should stop the Gabapentin.. I was told to try it for 2 to 3 days. She got it twice Tuesday and twice on Wednesday. Maybe the Gapapentin is too bitter, and isn't really doing anything for her. I just don't know.

You’re a wonderful cat mom Dyana and Jackson and Sabrina are the luckiest kitties in the world to have you :)

You’ve been so sleep deprived juggling work, looking for Sabrina, managing her health once she returned, and caring for Jackson in the meantime. No wonder you’re tired! When I’m tired I make mistakes all the time - I once almost gave Moonie a whole unit more in my exhaustion and I’ve had to make a dummy syringe to compare against since then.

I’m glad both kitties are doing well and Sabrina ate her breakfast! Sending you and your adorable kitty crew lots and lots of hugs.

Thank you! ❤️
I know I'm not a bad cat mom, and I know missing the shot isn't the end of the world.

I have found that gabapentin can increase appetite. I have given it as a pill (or part of) and liquid, so separate from meals. Have you tried giving the powder in Churu? Glad to hear she has eaten most of her breakfast.

Jackson will get back on track.

It's a liquid. I have tubes of Delectables that I can try to mix it in tonight's dose.

You are doing a great job with both kitties, Dyana:bighug::bighug:
It's been a very rough time lately. Jackson will be fine even if you missed his shot.
Sending Sabrina many good wishes to keep up her appetite!🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃
Thanks ❤️ !

She didn't even come out of the bedroom for 3rd breakfast. 😕
I guess I should start the Mirataz........

I just wrote to my vet via email:|
She's being a little elusive again and stayed in the bedroom with Jackson from the time I offered and she did not come out for her 3rd breakfast at 12:00pm. I got off work at 4:00pm and took down the puppy gate and she came out when treats were offered but kept walking/running away when I approached her. I had the Mirataz on my finger waiting, when I got a phone call, so had the Mirataz on my finger for about 25 minutes so I may be really hungry soon. I finally lured her with cat treats and pulled out another 1/2 inch of Mirataz and got it on her ear, and then more cat treats of course.
Now Jackson did not need those dry cat treats as he is a diabetic but you know .. he got some.

Dear Dyana, I probably missed some of your earlier posts. Why is Sabrina taking Gaba at the moment? 🙏🏼

If the dose is small, you could put it inside an empty capsule. This is what I do with bitter liquid meds for them, and it helps a lot! I buy empty vegetarian capsules separately just for this purpose.
...But the thing is, you’ll need to open her little mouth to give her the medication, unless she’ll take the whole capsule while licking the Churu.

But you can also have Gaba specially compounded into capsules at a compounding pharmacy in the US, right? They could make them in the exact dose she needs. Do you prefer the liquid one? I don't know how it is in the US, so I am wondering what would be easier. (Here the feline crew do not like the liquids at all...)

I'm sending some calm scratches to them ❤️

I always appreciate your posts.
I managed to get some Mirataz on her ear this afternoon. I am hopeful she will eat well tonight.
I see her grooming a lot, and hope that is a good sign.
