10/22 Dallas 283, No insulin

Do you still have insulin around that's not expired? His numbers have definitely trended up. I'm a little worried about leaving him in these higher numbers. The sooner you can get him regulated, the better the chance of a second remission.

I don't have any insulin, but I can go get some and start tomorrow morning. You don't need a prescription here in Canada. What should I start him at?

If he goes back in remission it'll be his 4th time lol. He can't seem to stay in remission for more than 1 year.

edit: just picked up some insulin

Last time a 0.5 unit dose seemed to work (after a couple cycles of 1.0 units). You can always increase a little faster if it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

For his ears, have you tried wiping them off with a wet gauze? Which ear meds is he getting now?

So, start him on 0.5? I will start tomorrow morning.

I didn’t try wiping his ears, but I will before his next test. He’s been on EasOtic ear drops for a couple years now (he has chronic ear infections). When he has a flare up we treat once a day for 5 days and it always clears up. It’s an ear drop for dogs, but my vet went to seminar and they mentioned this was a good option for diabetic cats. Surolan was no good for him once he became diabetic.

The vet said this ear infection was a bad one, so I’m thinking that with his teeth did it.
