WCR: Some Ps in place. Ok, I'm now concerned about her LB action. Yesterday, she only peed once. nailbite_smile Her appy is still very iffy and I know she's got to be uncomfortable. When I got home yesterday, her eyes were all weepy and she's been sneezing a lot. My sinuses have been going insane and I assume hers are, too. In the past, I've noticed that her appy is affected when her "sinuses" are icky. I gave her 100mL sub-q fluids last night, hoping that the extra fluids would help her system. So far, I'm still waiting for her to leave me any prezzies in the LB. I hate not knowing what's going on with her and I hate that she feels bad and I hate that she's not a cooperative patient at the vet's office and I hate that I don't have a flexible schedule. The only positive of the day is that I got lots of snuggles last night and this morning. Vines are appreciated, please. nailbite_smile

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Sending vines for Shasta. One of my kitties sneezes really bad this time of the year. I giver her 1/4 of a tablet of Zyrtec every 12 hours. I hope she gives you some pee soon. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 10/21 Shasta PMPS=344 +2=279

Update on little Shasty Pants: She left me prezzies in the LB right before I left for work...pee and a big, stinky poo! dancing_cat When I got home today, there was another pee pile in the LB. So that means we're up to 2 pee piles and 1 big, stinky poo. :YMSIGH: <- sigh of relief! Her appy is a bit better, but I know she's still not feeling the best. Right now, she's enjoying some lap time! Thanks Carla, Amy & Liz for checking in on us.

p.s. Liz, my vet has told me that he would come to my house, if need be, but if past experience proves anything...she's just as crazy and insane as she would be at the vet.

Ok, her breath is a bit stinky. What should I be smelling for if it's DKA? (<- is that the right ailment that has stinky breath?!) It smells like nasty/stank cat a$$. (excuse my language!)

Re: 10/21 Shasta PMPS=344 +2=279

I have absolutely no ketone experience at all, but I believe - but am not positive - that the smell on their breath is that sweet acetone type smell...I hope you're just smelling stinky cat food breath!

Re: 10/21 Shasta PMPS=344 +2=279

It's definitely not cat "food" breath that I smell!  and I don't think it's "sweet" smelling, either! :o

Re: 10/21 Shasta PMPS=344 +2=279

Hi Deborah,

Sending lots of vines for whatever is ailing Shasta. People have said that DKA smells like nail-polish remover. That doesn't sound like what you are smelling. Could Shasta have gotten into some carrion? Does she go outside? Could she have found a dead mouse or other critter?
Anyway, it's good that she is making contributions to the litterbox.

Feel better, Shasta!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Sending vines for Miss Shasta. Great news on th LB action.

Would she let you look in her mouth at her teeth/gum line. An infection there can smell pretty rank. Look for red gums, if you can.

Re: 10/21 Shasta PMPS=344 +2=279

ketones smell like acetone, i believe - which is like nail polish.

that sounds like an infection smell to me. Punkin's breath was often pretty bad and he always needed work when he had dentals done. sounds like her teeth might be a concern. If she has tooth decay it might hurt and that may be why her appy isn't up to normal.

Re: 10/21 Shasta PMPS=344 +2=279 +4.5=176

Ella, she does NOT goes outside and I pray that she didn't find a mouse in my house. (not that I haven't had some in my walls...but I haven't heard them in a long time.)

She's being stingy about looking in her mouth, but as soon as I get her in the right position & mood, I'll take a glance. If it were a rotten tooth, that would make sense...doesn't make it any easier on everyone involved, but at least I would have answers. She's eating a bit better...with me holding her bowl!  and now she's preening.

Thank you for all the vines and suggestions!!! I've been in cheesecake order form hell on Facebook. My students have to turn in all of their orders & money tomorrow after they log all of their orders online and some of them can't figure out the site...or read my instructions. UGH! I already hate tomorrow. :-x
