Darn it! I KNEW I shouldn't have talked about a trial! Last night at +3.25, the first reading was 101. I thought that couldn't be right, so checked again and got 91. Used that one so as not to mar her pretty ss with a blue. This morning, first reading was 168. I thought NO WAY, so checked again and got 153. What is going on here? :YMSIGH: I hope there's nothing else going on, she just got over being sick. I can get a +1 out the door check, but then I'm gone for a few hours.

WCR: She played last night for a few mins at the +3 check with her nanner and catnip fish. This morning she sat on my lap and purred. She's only eaten a token amt of her breffis so far, and 1 LB contribution.

Anne, I'm hoping that it's just a blip too. I think Muffin's been reading the condo, and got nervous. Maybe if you have a talk with her and explain that a trial is a GOOD thing? ;-)

Definately not a Muffin-like AMPS!

Vet thinks I'm overreacting. Says 200's are not that high for a cat, some cats shoot up to 400's just from the car ride to the vet. I said, I know that, but she's not at the vet, she's here at home, where nothing's been different. Clinically, tho, she seems fine, so vet wants me to just watch her for a while more, and if she keeps rising, or just doesn't come down, they'll do some tests. She does have a point - last time, the higher numbers confirmed my suspicions that something was wrong. This time I don't notice anything being different. So I wait and see what happens. I did take your advice, Laurie, and had a chat with her about what a "trial" was, so thanks for that suggestion! :lol: I have to leave for a few hours but will check her when I get home.

Well, just watch her Anne....I hope it isn't anything but a blip. And yeah, the vets seem to think that the 200s are just fine. but we know differently!
So, you will know soon enough what is going on. I hope she comes back down and doesn't have anything troubling her.
Good for you for calling the vet anyway...
Come on down Muffin...we prefer to see you in greens....

I could have sworn that I posted in your condo earlier, but its not there. Anne, do you have another pen or vial you can try tonight? According to your SS, your insulin is over 30 days old. I know most people can get more than 30 days out of their Lantus, but we have never gotten more than 32. Just a thought. I really hope Muffin will come down today.

Yikes! that is not like Muffin, a new pen is a good Idea. Could she possibly gotten into some contraband?

DH called me at work and told me about this and I thought ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile I hope we didn't all jinx her!!! I'm so glad to see this number now. That's kinda funny, kinda sad about the vet saying that 200 is ok...it's NOT ok for any of us and it's NOT OK for Muffin when she's been having these wonderful numbers. blipblipblipblipblipblip...now she's over it.

Thanks guys, I'm relieved too...hope they hold up. I'm having trouble getting the girl to eat much today. She ate her 3 tsps at am shot time over about a half hour. She wasn't interested in breffis #2 at +1, nor in a third offering at +3. I just caught her coming out DS's room licking her lips! He usually keeps his door shut, but left it open when he left today. I ventured in to look for contraband...all I see is chocolate frosting on a plate from last night. Now I've never known her to eat anything like that, and it doesn't look like there are lick marks on it...but he does have chips and stuff in there too. So I spose it's possible it was contraband - related, although I'm not sure what it would have been. Closed his door and offered her some turkey slices - she only ate one bite. She is downstairs playing like a crazy woman tho - running and sliding around the front room, in and out of her cube, a little interaction with a nanner....so I guess she's feeling good! I threatened her with syringe feeding, so let's hope she'll eat something soon.

My first thought was contraband. I wonder if Muffin found something carby in DS's room. Chances are, Muffin won't 'fess up.

No, I don't think she will Sienne. :lol: He probably won't either, for that matter :lol: We had spaghetti for dinner last night, and I'm sitting here eating leftovers right now....Muffin's very interested. Maybe she got of that? Is spaghetti sauce high carb?

+6 71 Upon DS's inspection of the chocolate frosting, there ARE tongue marks in it!! So that may very well have been what she was doing in his room earlier, so I'm anticipating another rise in numbers. At least I'll be expecting it, and know what it's about this time. Silly Muffin!

Oh Muffin you really are trying to drive your Mama crazy aren't you? Play nice there OK? It's amazing what the kitties will eat when our backs are turned. Tori is a French Fry addict. She just loves them and potato chips are a favourite too. I can remember once playing tug-of-war with her over an Oreo cookie. She was only a kitten at the time.

Yes I think this was just a blimp. When you were explaining the trial to her did you mention that when she succeeds she gets a lot more freedom at the Falls and doesn't go to jail? Maybe that will help.

pmps 60 All is back to normal, what a relief. Barb, I did explain to her that it was not like a people trial, it didn't mean she was in trouble, and that it meant a lot less pokeys! It's a GOOD thing! Apparently, she understood. cat_pet_icon I guess I need to try and find a cat food that she likes better than this one, she's been seriously trying to get into all kinds of people food today. BBQ potato chips, the chicken florentine DS and I had for dinner (was NOT elegant medleys, I swear! :lol: ) But maybe I should try that one again for her, she sure liked the people version!

And yes, spagetti sauce has carbs because it usually has sugar in it ..Moonie used to LOVE marshmellows!! 50 @ +3 She ate 2 tsps (8%) at +2.5, so hopefully she'll come up a little more and then surf so I can I-)
