I was premature in saying that Milo was eating well on his own. After a couple of days he does seem to need a bit of Mitazapine to keep him eating. Is this ok long-term? I have also had to add Fortiflora to make sure he eats. He goes off of different foods quickly and even the treats and vitamin he used to eat right up he has no more interest in. Is that influenced by nausea he was experiencing a while ago and a negative association? Or just plain finicky?

I think with pancreatitis you just have to keep treating the symptoms as they come up and be careful not too go off the meds too fast or they'll come back. I'd keep giving the appetite stimulant as long as he needs it and give some anti-nausea medicine if you have it. Sending prayers.

A couple of my big takeaways were: it happens where you stop a med but then the symptom returns. So restart the med to address the symptom. And also, go slowly when weaning.

Argh. Sam, I'm sorry. It's probably going to take a while like Carla said. I would think that if Milo is nauseous and he isn't being given anything to address that, then he wouldn't eat even with being given an appy stim. Usually nausea is identified by sniffing food and lip smacking but no eating. Butters does this, so it's relatively easy for me to know when I'd need to address nausea as well as appy.

Even though Butters is eating really well I've still been giving her a tiny bit of her appy stim, cyproheptadine. Her fentanyl supply was cut off this week, so I'm holding everything else steady for now. I'm going to wean the cyproheptadine, then her pain med, then the cerenia (anti-nausea) last.
