Sue was just diagnosed on 10-7-10. He was on PZI for 22 shots and switched to Lantus. 7th Lantus shot tonight. He was eating Dry Royal Canin DS per vet, but swtiched vets and is now eating Wellness Chicken wet and other low carb wellness wet foods only.

Sue weighed 8.09 lbs on 10-6-10 and weighs 9.4 lbs as of 10-20-10.

I am working with Dr. Lisa Pierson and we are trying to establish the onset, nadir and duration.

Thanks for the tip on the Lantus cartridges to keep the bubbles out (holding the plunger in very tightly). That is really helping!

Hi Jenny

welcome to Lantus Land.

So let me get this straight, Sue is a boy, ok, got it.

I'm going to link your first post from the board, so others can look back if needed

You are in good hands with Dr Lisa, lucky you!

Finding the onset, nadir and duration can vary from kitty to kitty, ECID (every cat is different), spot checks and curves will help both a lot.
Depending on what your schedule is like, we encourage filling in the blanks when ever you can.

Let us know how we can help. And best of luck to you both!

Thank you for the encouraging words. I thought I was going to go crazy the first two weeks. It's getting better now. I am a teacher and I keep thinking if only this was the summer, I could be home all day and night to monitor and take care of him.

Dr. Lisa is great and she really has helped me more than she will know (especially mentally). I was so overwhelmed and so sleep-deprived!

I look forward to learning from all of you!!!

Welcome to Lantus Land!!

The first two weeks are a nightmare. I didn't find LL for about 2-1/2 mos and it was still overwhelming when I got here and really began learning the ins and outs of diabetes management. The best advice I can give you is take lots of deep breaths and be patient.

Please let us know how we can help. This is a wonderful community of people who are very generous with their time and with what they've learned.

Hi Sue....how do you DO?
Welcome Jenny...so happy that you are here...you might want to put Sue's name right after the date in your header.
We each open one condo (thread) per day per kitty and we look forward to watching Sue's progress!
Good job in switching from the dry....
