Good Morning LL! Flat Pink! UGH!!! At least she isn't climbing. Tess does like to take full advantage of her 6 cycles. She may get away with longer because we don't want to go back up before Saturday, last class !YAY!!! On the plus side she looooooooooved the Merrick Before Grains Turkey, 1% carbs and 90mg/100kcal phos!! and I just found out it comes in bigger cans and for less than Wellness.

She never went for the Wellness like this.

WCR Just 4 Ps, Clean Plate Club in record time, in fact she was just sitting in DH's lap watching the feeder, waiting for it to open for meal #2. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~237

Ann, When I saw 237 in your subject line and flat pinks in you condo, I thouhgt Tess had broken through to a sunny yellow. But I see on you SS it's actually 337, I guess your subject line is a typo of wishful thinking. I hope she fulfills that wish for today.

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~237

Looking at your SS, this looks like a Bounce to me!!!--Moonie will stall 6 cycles just like Tess, Like give it to us already!!--Oh well Patience pants are in the closet waiting if you need
Nice yellow htis am-Paws & fingers crossed for a good day today-Hugs & love from us! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~237

Hi guys .. mocha used to take MULTIPLE cycles to see any movement .. she is lazy, like her momma  So glad you found some food she seems happy with .. I hope it lasts for you .. have a great day!

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~237

I feel for you with those numbers. Having been at this so long, I know this has to be frustrating yet you always sound upbeat. I'll try to emulate you when I'm feeling especially frustrated!!

BTW... do you find that it's cheaper to feed homemade with TCFeline or the Merrick BG? Champ DO NOT like Wellness (I tried it again last night and this morning...no go). I want to do what is less expensive, but I want to keep the food as high quality as possible.

Have a great day, Ann!!!

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~337

   Yep typo in the subject, either wishful thinking or blurry pre 6am eyes!

Patty, I'm not sure yet, there are a lot of different costs to add up for the TCfeline and a lot depends on the price of the chicken.. The problem now w/ the TC Feline is that it is quite high in Phosphorus and it doesn't seem to come from the meat in it. DH checked my calculations and I don't think I made a mistake. For raw it is cheaper than the premade (which I can't get around here anyway) but quite a bit more than totally homemade (but you need a good grinder.) I really was just using it to see if Tess would eat raw without investing in the grinder first, although it is a lot easier too. I've been checking online and have found the 5.5oz. cans of Merrick Before Grains for as low as $1.09 on sale and free shipping over $50. Once I am sure she will eat it consistently, it would be a great food and a lot cheaper than Wellness AND lower carb and much lower phos. Even if blood values aren't too high yet, it wouldn't hurt any cat to be getting lower phos foods. It might help head off problems later. I'll copy this to your condo too.

Yes on those smiles/happy faces! I may give BG turkey another try. Rusty didn't like it when I served it last spring, but the 1% carbs is an incentive.
Good luck with your foods quest. I agree that grinding food yourself and trying to keep the process sanitary seems daunting.

Have a great evening, guys,
And Tess, keep coming down to better numbers, OK?

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~337 PMPS~165

Tess came down nice there for the PMPS; blue is good! I've not tried the Merrick bg turkey. Mags didn't like the bg chicken. So I see Tess likes the Friskies beef & chicken. I was feeding Friskies special kitty to Maggie, and she seemed to like it. The food wars are ongoing. Have a good night.

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~337 PMPS~165

Hi guys! ok... who resurrected the teeter totter??? those two seem to be at ti again!  It is good though to see that Tess found the blue floor! YAY!!

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~337 PMPS~165

Much better tonight, Miss Tess!! Now lets go for some nice, flat blues and greens!

On the raw food... you can do boneless, which would require a light sear of the exterior of the meat (for chickens, I'd go with deboned thighs), then a quick whiz in the food processor. You would just need to add a calcium source... we use calcium carbonate powder, along with taurine, lite salt (for potassium), specific multivitamins, and then fish oil (I sometimes add vitamin E and C as well). Recipe also includes butter and organ meat, which we cook fully. It's pretty cost effective... We used a Feline Instincts mix prior to Willie's diagnosis, the problem was that it was a kidney formula that was like 40% pumpkin... not good for FD! The initial cost of supplements for his new diet was less than the cost of one container of Feline Instincts, and I am still using them, whereas I'd have gone through at least 2 containers of FI by now. The priciest option was the fish oil, but I used my FSA money to just get extra of the ones I used so I didn't have to have separate ones (I keep them in the freezer).

I find using a mix of raw and canned works well for us. I was using venison that my dad had already ground before... I'll probably continue to use that this year once I can restock, but I did get a fancy pants new cuisinart that I may test on some chicken!

Re: 10/20 Tess AMPS~337 PMPS~165 +2~222 +7~240
