so here it is...

Binksy's White Trash Headgear

just be a little careful letting civies or dogs see your sugarcat wearin' it...cuz it's hard to live down!

I take a 4 inch x 4 inch washcloth, dampen it slightly, and place it in the microwave for 14 secs.
Remove it, place it in a sandwich bag, and place it against my lips to make sure it isn't too hot.
Then i fold it in half with his little swiveler inside (here we hum and cuddle and scritch the neck and chin)
He absolutely loves the feeling, and it warms his ear beautifully.

then just lay the headgear aside, and I place a folded 3 inch x 3 inch piece of papertowel on the inside of his ear,
& freehand with just a lancet.

Easy Peasey Binksy Beasey!

ETA: couldn't find the crappy cell fone pics we took before, but if any of it doesn't make sense,
maybe i can get him to don the headgear for the camera again...

i was so hoping for a picture of the white trash headgear . . . because in my little head i was already imagining it going along with Leo's wifebeater . . . . a complete fashion outfit for the oh-so-cool diabetic cat who licks his belly til it's raw . . .

Purrfect, and it really works! (Celi sent this to us last winter and we've been using it ever since). I couldn't find a 4 x 4 inch baby washcloth, but I use a very thin regular washcloth and it works just fine. I don't think today's massively thick regular washcloths would work very well.
Thanks Celi (and, of course, Binks, who models it very well)

What, no picture?!?! What a letdown. However, just reading your precise steps made up for it. I too used the Lip Test! I also Lip Test Kitty's ear to see whether it's warm enough to test. Well, I call it kissing, but I might embarrass him. Lip Test sounds so much more official!

Okay so I really NEED a photo or two, please! I have the washcloths, 6 of them...don't ask and I so want to see the graphic depiction of this headgear. whenever!

It is purrrrfectly marvelous! Worked like a charm on Zener's little poked up ear. :-D We have yet to try it on his "not so good" ear. And if it works on that ear, we will be thrilled and so will Zener! ;-)
