Missy seems to be feeling better. Maybe she needed that increase. She hasn't shown much reaction to it, yet, but I guess her shed is filling. She is still eating well and going outdoors. My vet says to wait until next week to do blood work (to clear the Clavamox) so I will probably do that just to see if everything looks good and find out if there is any reason we missed that may have caused her relapse. I would love to see her go into remssion again. No ketones, yay!
I didn't get any PM checks in last night because I was so tired, but DH was up to keep an eye on her. Need to get him on board with testing...her could do a + 2 easily and maybe even + 4.
Hope to surf some blues soon.... :-D

Re: 10/19 Missy AMPS 296 ATrak

Yellow looks good after that string of pinks! And she's feeling better, that's the important thing!

Mares, you have 10/19 in your subject line. Folks might miss seeing your condo today.

10/20 Missy PMPS 354:-( ATrak totally confused

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=54674

I am totally confused...is this a bounce??
She was high at +6, but she ate 1/2hour prior, so I expected that. But her PMPS was totally unexpected. I don't understand these numbers at all. I thought she was responding to the dose increase at +3. I gots lots to learn.
Any input is welcome.....thanks.

ok that was totally weird. i was trying to post an answer to your other condo - you must've been deleting it because it kept saying requested topic didn't exist. doo dee doo dee.

anyway, this is what i said:

could be a case of New Dose Wonkiness

it's hard to now exactly what's going on. I wonder if it's food related. it would be good to keep her from eating after +4 so the +6 isn't food-influenced.

did she eat very much at +5.5 and did she eat any after that, before her pm shot?

i've merged your threads for today into one. we ask everyone to start only one thread per day. that way all the pertinent info for that day is kept in one place.
make sense?

it's hard to see patterns in the beginning. think of data collection as pieces to a puzzle. the more pieces you have the easier it is to see the whole picture.

it's also helpful not to get hung up on one number (easier said than done). just keep on with what you're doing and a pattern will emerge...

that was me, julie. i merged both threads.

hahaha i was thinking i'd entered the Twilight Zone! hahaha - and i'm watching Star Trek on tv tonight, so there are many weird happenings all around me.

I don't know if I did something wrong when I edited info, but it had been mentioned to me about one thread per day....and yes it makes sense, so if I did, it was inadvertent. I admit I am somewhat technologically challenged and I have never posted on a board before, so WAY behind the power curve.
I guess I will have to hope for NDW to be the answer. I do tend to let them sort of graze. I wasn't going to let her eat at 5.5 cuz I planned to check her at +6, but she had been sleeping and just got up. Been feeling sort of bad for her the last couple days, so was being sort of indulgent. She did have a bit more in between +6 and PMPS, but it was a couple hours before PMPS. I never feed her within 2hours of PMPS, even if she is begging. How long does a food spike last? She is on EVO Chicken and Turkey, which is very low dose carbs. I just emailed them again for carb content and it is less than 2% according to them.
They get "x" amt of food per day... biggest portion at shot times, but I tend to let them decide when they get the rest.
I guess it's called NDW for a reason, huh? It totally blew all the happy thoughts I had at + 3  . I hope she surprises me (happily) tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me of it.... Iple sort of spaced the term and that it just might apply to my kitty. This is definitely a dance to be learned!

letting your kitties graze is fine. i wish i could do that with my four, but alex is a hoover.
she'd eat everyone's food in the first few hours!

food spikes can last for several hours. the length may be affected by when it occurs in the cycle. if the insulin hasn't peaked, the food spike may last longer. at peak, the spike may be shorter simply because the insulin is at work and will pull the numbers down some.

Jill and Alex,
Thanks for that info. I always wondered how long the spike would last and never found a ball park figure. I only, sort of let my two graze. I had them on 2 different foods, Missy will ONLY eat EVO Chicken and Turkey, nothing else.... and for a long time Phoenix wasn't interested in hers at all. So, it was real nice for keeping track of who ate what. All of a sudden Phoenix won't stay out of her food, so I put him on the EVO. Now we just place musical food dishes.... :-D If he is around, I give him his...but pick it up when he is done or Missy will get into it and vice versa.
It kind of sucks, because I could leave both their dishes down before and let them eat at will, this way has me on my toes. Amazing how 20 pounds of kitty can arrange your whole life
Hope Alex is doing well, and your other 4, too!
