YESTERDAY'S CONDO:

So last night Max was 120 at +5 and 135 at +6. I figured early nadir or with meter error the same so I went to bed. This morning we have an 81. Either it was wrong or he slid down after his +6. I didn't do a retake as I've been wasting too many strips lately and so I'll just see what happens today. Either way it appears he broke his bounce and hopefully won't start another.

Thanks for the visits Karh and Marilyn. I think the word bounce was invented with Max in mind. I'm not convinced he was really green this morning but will know more with his next few pokies. Thanks for visiting.

Update: I'm wrong again.

Just gave more hc and added karo. If he drops under 50 it will be the third time BUT he also has been bouncing so much. He was under 50 on 10/9 and 10/13. Maybe I caught him before he dropped again. I'll retest in 30 minutes from the time I fed him.

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: ...it's not you, Elise...it's the nature of FD. Some kitties are bouncy....look at J.D., Gabby, Gracie just to name a few. We do what we can to reign in the bounces, but sometimes then bounces just win. In the meantime, know that you are taking awesome care of Max .... and I know HE knows that!

Thanks, Amy but I am so frustrated. If he was acting normal it wouldn't be so hard but he isn't. He rubs against me but only gets on my bed when I'm not in it. At least he's not under the bed at the moment. I don't think it is all fd making him feel bad but I don't know what it is. I'm hoping it doesn't have anything to do with the calcium but I can't bring myself to rush back for a recheck either.

I understand your frustrations...I'm sure it's not much comfort, but some kitties just get "quirky" with age, too. My GA civvie Mario had all sorts of oddities as he aged that couldn't be explained, but overall, he was OK....just the little old man version of "OK." (BTW, one of his quirks was hiding under the bed at times.) Given his age, I did give him a bit of a pass...we have off days sometimes, so I tried to let him have some off days, too, just as part of life. Of course I worried, but tried to remind myself. Try to not let the bouncies add to your frustrations....you are managing his FD very well!!

I understand, Amy. It's not just behavior changes. He has always been a bit aloof. But he is 17 so there is only so much I can do.It the FD would only be more constant I would know for sure that isn't the problem. My gut says it isn't though.

Looks like Max is on the climb or going to surf. Either way I won't need to deal with a reduction this time. At least he did go looking for food when he dropped. If he did last night there wasn't any and he didn't wake me. He even ate some low cal Weruva.

Looks like Max and Cinco have been hanging out together again! You don't suppose Max dared Cinco to come down to the lagoon and that's what prompted Cinco's cliff dive? :o I wouldn't put anything past boys when they decide to mess around! :roll: :roll: :mrgreen:

Elise I know how frustrated and worried you are. Please don't let yourself get too stressed. You can only deal with what you see and what you know is happening. If you can't find the cause, just try to manage the symptoms and keep your options open.

Those are nice numbers for Max today. I'm sorry things are so frustrating and the bouncing is adding to it. I agree with the others, you're doing great managing his FD and all you can do is manage what you can see. Sending prayers and hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

What a beautiful green streak for Mr. Max today- looking good! :-D I know the bouncing drives you crazy and I know it worries you that he doesn't look like he feels well, and I know, at age 17, well it's not as good as when you're 8 or 9...However, you are doing the absolute best for him, that's all you can do :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Sending hugs and prayers for you and hope your mom is doing better!

Hi Ruth. Where have the Tiger condos been? I wish I could not let the bounces get to me and be more accepting like you are. I really do. It would be easier if I felt he was a happy kitty but I don't feel that he is except for a few hours in the morning and a little bit around pmps. Thanks for the kind words.

(((Elise))) (((Max))) Tiger's bouncing drives me nuts too, I used to cry all the time and thinking I was doing everything wrong. And to top it off, she is a high dose kitty! ohmygod_smile But that is the nature of this FD thing, there is nothing certain or set in stone and the rules keep changing. It isn't like you can take an asprin and get rid of this headache. I think it was Julie that said that insulin, being a hormone, is unpredictible(think Teenage girls! :roll: ) All we can do is keep supporting eachother and holding eachother's hands, because life is tough without that moral support! I am so thankful for everyone on this forum!
