Poor little Iris had a pretty rough day yesterday. The Horner's syndrome is really bothering her and her left eye, in particular, looks pretty bad. I know that this is a common complication, but it is still hard to see her like this. She also started bleeding from her right ear yesterday. Apparently, that can also happen even days after the surgery, but it was really scary to watch. We have increased her pain meds to every 6 hours for now and she seems to be more comfortable today. She is mostly sleeping though.
Meanwhile, her brother Mandarin decided that yesterday was the perfect day for a dive into the 30s. He almost gave me a heart attack when I came home from my volunteer shift. I was a bit worried when I saw a green pre-shot in the morning, but I had the illusion that he couldn't possibly go that low on 0.1 units (and it was a skinny 0.1 too). Well, he did... and I had to bring out the honey for the first time in quite a while. I reduced him to 1 drop, even though I would have very much preferred to see some more greens before doing that.
He is a very sensitive cat in general and his higher numbers night have very well been a reaction to my stress and to Iris being gone.
Walter has done much better on 1.25 units. Since he ate some of Mandarin's HC food yesterday, I wasn't surprised that his AM cycle looked rather odd. But he came right back down into some lovely numbers over night.
And here's the latest picture of my little patient.
