It's been four months since we started insulin. I can't give enough thanks to everyone here at FDMB for the help and support. :bighug:
We see the vet at +3.5 for another urinalysis to see if the UTI has cleared. She still circles & squats in the box several times before peeing, so I think it is still there, although she has never shown any discomfort or straining during box visits.
We are off to a good start on our quest for greens today. :D
Happy Friday! :)

What great news!

The vet asked if Maggie was still exhibiting circling in the box. I confirmed she was, and asked about the possibility of blockage even though she did not appear to be in pain. Vet said she should show pain if that were the case. She took Maggie back for the urine sample, but came right back and said she felt something she had not felt before, and wanted to do an x-ray. The x-ray showed the vet was feeling hard fecal matter. Eww, but good news that there was nothing else. Maggie's bladder was empty, so the vet gave her sub-Q fluids and we waited 30 minutes for enough urine to sample. I couldn't believe it when the vet returned and said the UTI was gone. She said it is a very active bacteria that swims around a lot, and she saw no movement. I will return a week from Monday to have a culture done to confirm. As to why the circling behavior continues, the vet said it might just be a learned behavior now. She sent me home with Laxatone to help soften Maggie's poo.

Maggie was pretty grumpy and worked up when I got her home, but she eventually pooed, peed, and ate. Now she's conked out by the sofa. :D

I wonder if that is why she is still circling the LB.
You could very well be right. I'm going to keep working on finding the magic combo that creates the perfect poo. I'm giving her Natural Moves that others here have had success with because Miralax hadn't been very reliable for her. I tried marshmallow root and slippery elm, but she didn't seem to like the taste. Anyway, when she starts having better poos I'll see if the circling goes away. Thanks for pointing that out! :)
