Champ had a what, for him, was a good day. We actually didn't see the third floor at all!! Of course, he had a PMPS of 290 and then dropped like a stone to 138 by +2.5. When he hit 70 at +4, I gave him his last mini-meal (Wellness turkey which he DOES NOT like), but put some FF beef Gravy Lover's over the top, like chocolate sauce. He ate it up and it stopped him from falling any further. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 1 a.m., tested him, and he had only gotten up to 74. I really love that FF Gravy Lover's in the beef flavor...it raises Champ just a hair so I don't have to worry about him bouncing through the roof. I'm definitely not going to feed him the FF beef feast classic anymore, or the beef and chicken. I have a lot of both those flavors left, but I still have my receipt so I'm going to take it back. Does anyone know the carb count for FF chunky chicken and chunky turkey? He really likes those flavors and I haven't noticed a spike in his numbers like the beef caused, but I'm very unsure of the carb count because they aren't "classic" flavors. They are on Janet & Binky's list as having 5 carbs, but we all know most, if not all, of the numbers have changed on that list.

The work week is almost over!!! Yay!! One of my accounts took a few days off and I've almost felt like I was on vacation so far this week, but he's back and has a bunch of work for me today!! Unfortunately, I have my biggest account taking three weeks off at the beginning of November so that will suck for real!! I need to make sure I've stocked up on insulin, test strips, and food before he leaves so, when I have a short paycheck, Champ's already taken care of and I don't have to worry about him!!

I hope everyone has a really terrific Fursday!!!

Morning Patty and Champ! Hooray for your mini vacation, i hope you enjoyed it. I read somewhere that FF chunky chicken is 5%, i think i found it in the J & B's list but under the old list. Its definitely one of Leo's fave's as well. I've never seen the chunky turkey before tho.

Champ sure has turned into a rainbow kitty hasn't he? Champers.....what's up with that?!?!?!

Thanks for your support this week Patty! I hope you and Champ have a wonderful day.

What a good bean, stocking up for kitty against the lean times. Working for yourself must be both satisfying and terrifying.

Hi guys .. so happy to hear champ had a good day .. we also used the FF beef gravy to keep mocha afloat .. she LOVED it and still runs to the cupboard where we kept it .. I hope you can get all stocked up so no worries when you are short on work .. have a great day!

Re: 10/20 Champ AMPS 209, +2 113

Oh, is Champ having some nice numbers! Green again today, Champers?

I've used the FF Chunky Chicken to nudge Tess up 5% sounds right as she doesn't go too high with it. I've never seen the turkey either.

Re: 10/20 Champ AMPS 209, +2 113

You asked in our condo about TCfeline vs. Merrick Before Grains. I replied ther, but here it is so you don't have to go back.
Patty, I'm not sure yet, there are a lot of different costs to add up for the TCfeline and a lot depends on the price of the chicken.. The problem now w/ the TC Feline is that it is quite high in Phosphorus and it doesn't seem to come from the meat in it. DH checked my calculations and I don't think I made a mistake. For raw it is cheaper than the premade (which I can't get around here anyway) but quite a bit more than totally homemade (but you need a good grinder.) I really was just using it to see if Tess would eat raw without investing in the grinder first, although it is a lot easier too. I've been checking online and have found the 5.5oz. cans of Merrick Before Grains for as low as $1.09 on sale and free shipping over $50. Once I am sure she will eat it consistently, it would be a great food and a lot cheaper than Wellness AND lower carb and much lower phos. Even if blood values aren't too high yet, it wouldn't hurt any cat to be getting lower phos foods. It might help head off problems later. I'll copy this to your condo too.

Re: 10/20 Champ AMPS 209, +2 113

Thanks, Ann, for the info. I think I'm going to give the homemade a try to see how Champ's numbers react. He hates the Wellness so much that he would rather not eat than have that nasty stuff cross his lips!! I might give the Merrick a try if I can find it here at Petsmart or Petco to see if he'll eat it. The FF chunky chicken and chunky turkey I got at Petco. They didn't have it at Petsmart. Champ likes both of them a lot and will eat it with no added freeze-dried chicken...YAY! They also have chunky chopped grill, but since the regular chopped grill now raises Champ's BG, I opted not to try it.

Hi Patty, good luck with all the foods in your condo. I admire anyone who can make their own raw mixture for their babies. I don't think I could handle all the cutting and chopping. It seems a lot of us are doing the same with trying different foods. Good catch last night with the 70! I also like the Gravy Lovers as it doesn't spike too much, just enough I've found. I'm disappointed they changed the formula in so many of the FF, as the only one Maggie can eat w/out a spike is Seafood Feast. Anything FF Grilled is good to bring up a low number, too! I've never tried the FF chunky chicken. Champ is looking good now in blue. Good luck with work and everything.

Sounds like Champ puts you through your paces! Missy has some swings, but not that ofter, thankfully. Good luck with the homemade food. I am with Ann, I don't think I could do all that. My fat little woman will ONLY eat EVO Turkey and Chicken......nothing else. Not even other EVO flavors. If they ever stop making it, I am toast.

I'm so proud of my Champers!!! Great numbers all day long (anti jinx). Until I start the cat man on homemade food, he is only going to get the FF chunky chicken or chunky turkey. His numbers today have been great on it. Tomorrow, I'm taking back all the other FF (2 cases!) since I have the receipt and I have five large cans of Wellness that Champ refuses to eat that I hope they'll let me exchange since I can't find the receipt. And I don't care how much cheaper it is to buy the 12-13 ounce cans of food, they are a pain in the behind!!

Hi Patty & Champ,
Really nice day today for Champ. The foods issue seems to be number 1 topic these days. We're sticking with Wellness Turkey because Rusty likes it so much, but I am going to try him on some other foods, too. I'm reading labels like crazy!!

Have a good evening, guys,

Ella & Rusty

Champ is looking great today! Pretty numbers all around!

Good luck with the food! We are cautiously trying the nature's instinct, but mixing it with raw (not much left, and won't be getting more venison until christmas!), BG Turkey, BG Chicken, Wilderness Duck and Wellness Chicken... Trying to come up with a mix that lets him get a little raw each meal, but still keeps the phosphorus down, and lord knows he's shunning the BG Turkey right now. He's still a fan of the Wilderness Duck, but those little cans aren't cheap! Thankfully, I got a cheap petco online gift card from ebay and ordered a couple cases of food that I was able to return to the store and trade out for the wilderness they had in stock (no wilderness duck on the website. boo hiss!). I know lots of people like Merrick's Cowboy Cookout as well... Willie doesn't tolerate beef at all, so it's a no go for us, and while he LOVES his Grammy's Pot Pie, 8% is just too high a daily food for him... I try to keep him under 2%.

Hi guys - nice day for Champ - I see green on there!! YAY!!! Very nice PMPS!

Sure I alot of food talk going on these days! Good I think> we feed wellness, primarily. Mannie seems to do well on it - though lately his pink spikes aren't much testimonial to that. :-D

Hope you day was a good one!

good luck on figuring out the perfect food - i think they (the kitties) like to change the game rules in the middle of the game, just to make sure we don't forget who is in charge of all of this!
