First Day of October!!! Condo (10/1)

Well, I woke up this morning and when I was waiting what seemed like forever for the meter to spit out a number, I just told myself, please not yellow, please not yellow, please not yellow....Since he was 147 at +9 (not sure what caused that spike).....so imagine my surprise when not only it was not yellow, and not only green, BUT THE LOWEST GREEN PRE SHOT NUMBER IN OUR HISTORY, 76 (I did retest and got a 79, so I know it is accurate). So call me a chicken and I will go bok bok.....but I am just not comfy shooting this morning for the following reasons:

* At +9 he was 147, three hours later he is 76, which is a drop of about 23.5/per hour
* This is the lowest preshot we would ever be shooting
* With my other interview today, I am not sure if I am going to make it home to test him.
* I have shot lower numbers before, mainly 90s but the first time I did it (80-something), I ended up having to call in to work, which is not an option today

I wish this would have happened on Saturday or Sunday, I would have no qualms about shooting it because I would be home all day to monitor. Even if it were a day I knew for sure I would be able to come home at lunch to check him, I would throw a little MC in with his LC in the timed feeder and shoot it. I am bummed because I know this will probably screw him up for a day or two, but hopefully he will get right back on track.

I am sure I will regret not shooting him when his PMPS goes sky high, but I just don't want to risk it.

Re: 10/2 Skooter AMBG 76

Just a recap (as I did stall for a total of 45 minutes, waiting for a significant increase to where I would feel comfy shooting):

3:13 (+9) - 147 (ate appx 1/3 LC food)
6:10 (AMBG) - 76
6:20 - 79
6:35 - 85
7:00 - 79

I was hoping if I got something higher, outside of the meter variance, that I could at least give a .10, but sticking in those numbers. Again, I am sure his numbers will sky rocket and I will be kicking myself at PMPS, but I guess I would rather that, than come home to the worst case scenario...

Well guess I should FINALLY feed him, four tests and no food, makes for a very unhappy Skooter.....

No worries, Molly, he'll get back on track. Safety is always the first consideration. And sometimes the bean has things she has to do. Shooter will be fine.

Sometimes you just have to skip...safety first! I'm sure Skooter will catch up again quickly...heck, maybe he'll just surf the greens all day long!! Have a great day Molly!

I would have done the same in your shoes, I may have no problem shooting a 50, but not being able to test no way.
Safety always comes first.

No question Molly. I'd have done the same. Skoots will be back on track with nary a notice! Good luck to you on the interview stuff.

I don't blame you. You have to keep Skooter safe. He'll get back on track quickly. I hope the interview went well.

Re: 10/2 Skooter AMBG 76 +12.75 79 PMPS 162 +2 83

Thank you for the visits and encouragement Carla, Marilyn, Darin, Amy and Liz.....

After doing his +2, I do believe I did the right thing....he "only" went to 162, which is a normal number even when he does have insulin. And then BOOM +2, just the slightest of dips down...no cliff diving at all....in fact, I probably don't need to test him again tonight, eh?

The interview went fairly well, I think. Tomorrow, I have another interview for a different job. So we shall see. That one is early enough in the day where I will actually be able to go straight from the interview to home to test Mr. Skooter....I am exhausted, but time to get a late dinner for me.....

Wow, Skooterbear, that is a great day with no jus!!! Good job! :-D

I concur with everyone else - you absolutely made the right decision, and obviously it didn't bother Skooter one bit! Now he's got a nice, safe green surf going on and you can have a relaxing night! I hope your interviews are going well and you find the perfect job for you!
