Good morning-

Things are going well here. Fur Ball has changed so much in the past couple weeks. He is playing w/ his little mouse, throwing it in the air and running around. So fun to watch him be a kitty again. Wish we had changed his diet earlier. I’m such a firm believer in raw/wet now. We are gathering so much info to take to our vet, when we finish this leg of the journey. You all have been a godsend.

As long as it is still safe, we want to give him the best chance of remission. But, when does it become unsafe?

Right now we do not have much flexibility in being able to check on him after the AM shot until +5. Its really hard going to work and not testing him. He drops so much during that time period. My fear is he will go too low and we will not be home to catch it in time.

We went ahead and gave him a drop and will be setting out catsicles and praying he stays in the zone.

Have a great day everyone.

I don't know how you deal with that part either.
Paws crossed that he does his low number earnings only when you are home! Why sleep?
Fur Ball, we need you to have great timing! No drama.

Hope your vet takes the info and shares!!!

One big plus if you are going to try to educate your vet about feline nutrition is Dr. Lisa's website. Vets tend to listen more closely to other vets vs. us mere mortals!! There are other websites that promote a species appropriate (i.e., low carb) diet but not all are authored by vets.

The best I can offer to deal with the anxiety when leaving the house is to leave food out.

Re: 10/2 Fur Ball AMPS 91

I'd like to second Sienne's thoughts.

Leaving out food, especially "foodsicles," will go a along way in helping FurBall stay safe while you are out. From what you've posted, he seems to know to go for food when he starts dipping. Leaving out MC, even with a little dribble of HC-gravy on it, will help keep him safe.

You guys are doing so wonderfully!

Hugs
Jane

Fur Ball is doing really well  Leaving out food for him will surely help alleviate some of your nailbite_smile Have a great day!

I'm glad to hear Fur Ball is being playful and feeling good. I think leaving food out is a good idea. I do that for Furball if I think she is going to go low. I can't come home at all during the day to test. It is very frustrating.

I'm very familiar with the worry of not knowing what's going on inside your kitty when you have to walk out the door in the morning and (in my case) leave him alone until dinner time!

But keep in mind how low his dose is now. The chances are extremely low that just a drop of insulin is going to make him go more than a tiny bit low, and with him in good health and Mr. Liver perfectly able to handle it, it's not a concern. :-D
