Starting the day off with a pink sunrise and a bit of liqui-poo. Zener's appetite still not the best, but did eat a little with shot and @ +2.

Switched to 11% @ +2 as we both have to leave in a little over an hour to teach this morning. I will dash home for mid-cycle check, but this is one of those afternoons when we both are teaching until after 5 pm. We're a little nervous as this cycle is starting out like Monday, and we can't skip class this time. So our paws are crossed Zener gets off the express train. It's time for checkup blood work at the vet, so will call today and see if we can get in this week.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

Re: 10/19 Zener AMPS 320;+2 257 A Trak

Can you leave out an auto feeder or some extra food just in case he does drop, he can have that available??
I know how anxious it makes me, so let's try to find a way to reduce our amxiety while we are gone.
I know he has eating issues, and some physical ones too, but leaving some food out, I find cats eat a little more when they are alone sometimes--Hope you find a way--Hugs & lub from us..

Re: 10/19 Zener AMPS 320;+2 257;+3 240 A Trak

Thanks Roni! We need all the anxiety reducing techniques we can find! :-D
We are leaving out 1oz of the 11% medium carbs for him. Zener is not food focused so that is also a challenge. His drop has slowed @ +3 and I'll be home to check on him at mid-cycle.

+3 240, left out 1oz 11%

Zener, save the green for bean home days. Beans away=hang out yellow or surf blue.

Zener's noticeable lack of appetite yesterday evening and this morning are a little worrisome as always, though the cypro last night helped us get enough food in with this insulin. After the liquid poo this morning and his lack on interest in food, I think another pepcid may be in order. We have a vet appointment tomorrow afternoon for a follow-up and blood work, so we'll see if there is anything other than "cat" behavior going on.

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190 not eating A Trak

Thanks Lisa, we will keep everyone posted on the vet visit.

This is our second evening of poor appetite. Zener did not eat much this am cycle either and was pretty lethargic during the day, plus a little liquid poo. He has pepped up a bit this evening, perhaps the pepcid helped, and his BG numbers look pretty good. We gave him his insulin but he isn't eating much, so we may have to resort to cypro again, if he doesn't eat more in the next hour.

We are pretty worried and imagining all the things that could be going wrong. Any advice is welcome! We have a vet visit tomorrow afternoon.

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190 not eating A Trak

I'd think about adding FortiFlora for the poo issues. The probiotic can help in that department. I'd start with a packet a day.

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190 not eating A Trak

Thanks Sienne, I didn't think about fortiflora to help with the liquid poo. We use fortiflora already as it helps with his appetite. We also gave him 1/4 pepcid this afternoon. He just ate a little bit more food up to 0.7oz so we're not too worried about the insulin effect without food now. He just seems so low energy. He looks at the food but just isn't interested. Should we try a 2nd dose of pepcid tonight?

Thanks Celi, we are due for follow up blood work so it's perfect timing. We've had tests run before for possible pancreatitis so it may be time to check for that again too.

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190 not eating A Trak

Hi Anne, so sorry to hear Zener is not eating and feeling lethargic. I'll be thinking of you, Liz and Zener tomorrow and sending vines for a good Vet visit and help for Zener. Hugs.

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190 not eating A Trak

So sorry to hear Zener isn't eating. Tarragon is not food motivated either so it is a challenge when he doesn't eat. Did Zeners liqui poo start with diagnosis or when you switched to canned? The reason I ask is that Tarragon started liqui poo with canned. He is on 1/2 tablet of metronidazole every day and I open one psyllium capsule (walmart brand) and add to his food every time. No more liqui poo. It too the vet 6 months to find the combination that worked. If I miss a day of the metron the liqui poo comes back and he doesn't eat much that day. Pm me if you want.

I agree with the race being a motivator Liz. Tulsa has a race of some kind every weekend so we are fortunate. We have been faithful doing a 5k every 4-5 weeks. It's the only thing that keeps me focused.

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190 not eating A Trak

Thanks Melissa, I will send you a PM. And thanks Christie for stopping by. It helps to know we have so much support!

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190;+2 169 eating a little A Trak

Zener seems to have perked up a little bit this evening and was interested in eating a little bit at his +2.

PMPS 190, 5th cycle @sk 1.0, 0.70 oz 11% (edited, he ate more after I posted)
+2 169, 0.75oz 11%

He is outside right now with Tillie guarding the woodpile to save us from the vicious bean eating mice. ;-)

Re: 10/19 Zener PMPS 190;+2 169 eating a little A Trak

had to stop by and see if zener was eating more today - sorry he's still not having much of an appetite. i *think* you can give 2, 1/4 pepcid tabs per day but i would hate to steer you wrong on it. i hope someone else will chime in.

punkin does have a loud motor! sometimes he will sit and purr, looking like he's sleeping but i think he must be awake, for as much as a half hour at a time. "i'm just sitting here being happy." you can hear him from the next room. it's awesome. with anya, you have to feel her to know if she's purring or not. she purrs, but it's silent.

i hope you get some answers on the appetite tomorrow. i know how worrisome it is, and we love zener! we want him to be eating! maybe he's full of mice from the woodpile?!?

If no one chimes in tonight, I'll post about the pepcid doseage in my subject line tomorrow with a question mark. Right now we are VERY GREATLY relieved as he started eating and acting like he was interested in food again. We don't know why. But we did spend a very long time in a "scritches and pets" love fest with both beans and Zener on the bed. He was purring loud enough to make punkin proud! Then all of a sudden he got up, plopped on the end of the bed and asked for food! He ate almost an ounce, then proceeded to groom himself thoroughly.

How funny! Our kitties are the same one. Zener has the loud motor and Tillie has a very soft breathy purr.

We hope so too. Our vet prescribed the cypro back in the early days of diagnosis when we were transitioning to wet food. It was very effective in getting him to eat but it did tend to make him lethargic if we used it daily. We are feeling like a ton has been lifted off our shoulders now that he is feeling better and eating. It was almost like someone flipped a switch. We are so touched that so many people follow our guy's progress and love hims too. He would like us to believe that he is a superb hunter, but so far no mouse presents anywhere. ;-) Our vet visit was set up as a routine follow up for blood work to check all the usual things, but then he started feeling punk and not eating. So, we were relieved to be going. We'll post the results tomorrow evening. Thanks so much for all the support! :YMHUG:

His eating button switched on about +3.5 tonight. Purrs, lovey time and stretching! He ate well then and ate again at +5. Had to give the MC but at least he was eating! Numbers are looking decent too, in the blues and yellows. We are so relieved!
