Morning. ~O) So far so good. :YMSIGH:
I thought this part was going to be a piece of cake but it's not what I thought. Feeding on schedule with a cat who won't use an autofeeder
presents challenges unless you are around all the time. Did Mannie give out lessons on ignoring auto feeders? :-D

I forgot yesterday to share the Great news I got on thursday about Shadow.
There records say I brought her in for the first time in 2001, not 2000.
The year 2000 was the year of the Cerro Grande fire that burned 400+ familys out of homes in our town.
I thought we got Shadow right after we came back to town , but it was a year later.
I guess it felt like after the fire since we dealt with all those issues for a few years. Our house was 8 houses away from being
burnt down.

So Shadow is 11 1/2 years old.... not 12 1/2. I have been having to re-calculate my own age for the last few years. I can never remember
my own age , there has been something difficult about 47, 48, and 49. Maybe next year will be easier. :lol: :roll:

So , What a gift, to gain a year with Shadow.

Gotta run, heading to Albuquerque with dd for dr appt. Today might eliminate anything female like ovarian cysts from the possible
diagnosis for what the heck this is.

Hi guys ... nice start to day 2! Thankfully I was always here to feed mocha, but it was hard for me not to test her! And yes, what a gift it is to have gained more time with Shadow .. good luck at the dr's appt, hope it all goes well .. have a great day!

What a great green number to start off day 2 Shadow. :RAHCAT :RAHCAT Keep it up.

My guy doesn't use a feeder either and we are surviving. Definitely weaning me off testing is really hard. I find myself wanting to keep doing it to see where he's surfing. At least he's been such a compliant boy with the testing.

Hopefully you find some good news out w/ DD? All the unknowns are frustrating.

I agree. It's difficult to keep track of the years. My solution is to pick an age and think and feel you are that age!! (pick a good one!!)
Shadow is doing GREAT.

Good luck with your DD's appointment today. I hope you and she will get some answers.

Good morning Rhiannon. Shadow is off to a good start on day 2 of OJT trial. Keep it in the GREEN Shadow. Rhiannon be glad you are still in the years where you know you're forgetting your age. When you get my age you won't remember that you forgot your age. Just take every day as it comes and live it to the fullest. Remember life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming----WOW----what a ride. We'll be thinking of you and your DD today and watching for your update tonight. Have a great day.

Sorry your feeder is not working, have you ever tried free feeding to see how it goes? Just a thought.
Hope our DD doctor visit went well and gave you some answers and ruled out some things.

What a long day! Happy to be home. DH was in charge of Shadow and tried to test her but didn't get blood.
( I think he didn't click the lancing device the second time. :roll: :o )
So I don't know what the mid day cycle was but it's early in the trial, I'll be more worried towards the end .

DD appt was good so we've pretty much eliminated ovarian cysts as the culprit. So now to survive until Nov 2 (2 weeks from today)
for the endoscopy. That seems to be the key, just what the heck is it?
Took her to a very large book store where she found some more classics for her collection. She loves the fancy covered hard backs
of the classics so she likes hunting for them. She found 3 or 4 , each less than $10, probably were originally 50 +.
I bought more cat food. @-) :lol: There are still 5 more brands I want to try but 2 of them aren't available anywhere around here.
I'll have to go check everyone out and see what I missed today . Hope everyone had a good day and stayed safe.

Oh, and freefeeding problem with always having food out is she eats it all most of the time. Have to get her to figure out to walk away
and come back later. I'll start working on that for now since she'll need to be left with extra food for the days we go away at Christmas.

Hi Rhiannon - congrats on Day 2! YAY SHADOW!!! It must be so exciting that you are in a trial right now - so awesome! We had a vet appointment for Molly today and I mentioned Leo's disastrous commute, and she cautioned me that it was unlikely Leo would return to a pre-diabetic state, and she again offered the "2 injection and occasional curve and fructosamine" line. Sigh. But she did also say that I could teach her a thing or two about feline diabetes. I told her that right now, there are at least 2 cats on OTJ trials (am I losing count?) and at least 3 cats who went OTJ since we joined. Ok, so we're all crazy cat people ... curing our cats. Way to go!!!!!!

I hope you find more answers with DD. Sounds like a stressful day and I hope you can relax some tonight. Not like you have to go prepare a syringe or anything :lol: :lol: :lol:

hmmm. no drop 3 hours after food.
wonder if it matters whether or not there is a drop or flatlining is still just as good. :?:

If she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!

Shadow doesn't mind... she likes that treat.

and the I fed her a new flavor that we hadn't found before.
Nature's variety instinct - Lamb 2% and 262 phosphorus..... ( don't want her eating all the ones in the 500's)
She ate it all.
Hope she likes a second serving later....maybe it will be a keeper.
 
Watch out on the lamb, I suspect Rosy's bg rised because of it. It's a LC, but somehow ,maybe coincident, Rosy's bg always go up whenever she's fed the NV lamb
 
guess I should check that out here in a bit with a little more poking.
I think I only bought one can, maybe 2. reject foods just trickle down to outdoor cat.

well she did get the entire day off from it, sorta.
don't know if DH actually clicked the lancing device twice....
He hasn't done it before or been shown how so I know it's operator error. :-D :roll:

checked at +5.5 to see if it raised her bg and her bg is 81 .... so guess not. :-D


I do wonder about whether or not the flat cycle is just as good as getting a drop a few hours after eating. not that I have any control. :roll:
 
Yeah for day TWO! dancing_cat dancing_cat Shadow continues to look lovely and flat in green.

Good luck with DD. The two weeks away is not so long now and I hope it provides the answers. Did you ever try leaving out frozen meatcicles for Shadow? That way it's harder for her to eat it right away and might spread out the meals a bit.

I wouldn't poke her so much....if she's green, let her have the day off until the PMBG. I know you nailbite_smile but she's doing great!

Give yourselves a break.

Wow, this is great! Congrats on Day 2, Shadow and Rhiannon!

I agree with Marje, BTW: Only test at PS times, and only follow-up if it's above 100 :smile:

Time to get over the testaholic tendencies! That was the hardest part for me :mrgreen:
