10/19 Monet: Checking in & advise about CKD (Picasso)

Happy Sunday....hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Just did my weekly testing of Monet and he continues to give me GREENS!
I as so thankful for this ....

Needing prayers and advise for my other Kitty - Picasso - who was just diagnosed with CKD ON Friday. Again. ..I am devastated , but ready to do EVERYTHING in my power to keep him healthy and living a long life! We go Wednesday to a specialist to have ultrasound done of kidneys and full blood pressure check. I've joined Tanya's CKD support board already and will hopefully get guidance and support there as we start this journey with Picasso. I know how important food is so I am happy I was already feeding Picassoa total wet diet low in Phosphorus (and carbs of course) .

YAY for Monet staying put nicely in the greens.

Sorry to hear about Picasso, but it looks like it is early stage so far. Tess was DX w/ early CKD three years ago and we have kept her numbers stable just at the high end of normal w/ low carb/low phos foods. We haven't had to resort to phosphorus binders or squids yet, so you are on the right track. We have a list of the foods from DR. Lisa's list that are both LC and LPhos in a tab on Tess's SS. Knowing what I do now, I'd keep any cat on a low carb diet as well as low phos.
 
Hi Ann ....thanks so much for your words of encouragement about Picasso ...I sure did need them!
I will definitely check out Tess's SS in regards to the food ...I will take any advice/help I can get.
Let me know too how Tess likes Daves... I wac thinking about tring that too.
