Good morning World! Welcome to our home! Yesterday

KT
AMPS 243

Altho' one part of me doesn't LIKE these high numbers, the other side of me is celebrating them because FOOD is metabolizing!!! He's hungry again, eating whole cans of food a couple of times a day. He's still too skinny but the last couple of days we're seeing a bit of muscle building AND I don't have nearly the loose skin to shoot! When we started this, we used probiotics for the first 4 days thinking we were giving digestive enzymes (per the sub worthless vet). We then began adding REAL digestive enzymes, about 1/8th tsp per every Fancy Feast can. We continued this with probiotics for 3 days, poop firmed up, he began WANTING to eat. After 3 days, I stopped probiotics and began backing off to about 1/8th tsp enzymes in am then another dose with the evening food. Now I'm sprinkling just a bit on his morning food, no more probiotics. He feels WONDERFUL - had to actually STOP his playing last night as he was getting WAY too rough and excited chasing Leo. He was ready to whoop that little red-headed stinker.... :-D KT's DEFINITELY BACK!!!

DAKOTA
AMPS 298

Extra sweet Dakota is being his usual extra sweet self. He's up to 4u's, I fattened it and about to go up to 4.25u. He's also about to go see KT's dental vet. Back in 2010, he had a mast cell tumor on one ear removed. I just found about 3 little bumps behind that same ear. Our regular vet doesn't have the equipment to do more than Chem10's and xrays. We'll probably need an ultrasound to see what's happening underneath there. He's still playing often altho' he shakes his head sometimes so know they're bothering him now. I'm not sure when I can get him in, I'll call next week. Now that it's getting cold at night, he comes up to snuggle beside me at night. When he first arrived, it scared him to be under the covers but now he wants my flannel blanket over him....I LOVE cuddling a kitty at night....I sleep so much better.

Leo - we've started him on prednisolone tablets trying to wean him off those Depo steriod shots. I heard him cough a couple of times last night but he was also WILD all night. He ran end to end 1000 times hollering and swatting everything. I don't know what bug got up his butt but it definitely had him wiggling. He LITERALLY got the pee scared out of him this morning - DH walked in from Spike's room as Leo goes shooting by right under his food. To keep from stepping on him, DH did fancy foot steps, slipped and fell hard. HE isn't in too good of shape - badly twisted knee, big knot on his head where he hit the big air cleaner, badly hurting shoulder, dislocated pinky but he refuses to go to dr. or ER. $@%!#@^

Spike - he's still peeing, a bit bigger clumps now so he's not hurting as bad. This was a NASTY infection! For those that visit that don't know, Spike had a urinary crystal blockage last Friday evening, bladder near bursting - spent 24 hours in ER hospital. Thursday he started straining again and hollering, only dribbles coming out....off we go to vet again. Luckily this time, he WASN'T blocked again, the UTI had his urethea so irritated that it hurt badly to pee. The longer he held it the more ammonia, the more ammonia the more burn. As the vet whispered "Us boys turn into real babies when our pee-pee's hurt"....I had to laugh....

I've about given up on integrating Mooch - she's just too much of a 'Me' Diva. I can't make her stop slapping and hissing at others. It's not scared, it's domination and jealousy. As long as I stay out there with her, she's fine as she knows I don't accept that but when I leave, she returns to her nasty tricks. I would SO SO love to find an elderly person/couple that wants an absolute sweetheart of a cat but is their ONLY cat...she just doesn't do well with others. She's actually WONDERFUL with dogs, doesn't try that domination.

Snowshoe (megacolon) - DH tried Anne/Liz's tubby massages they do with Zener when he has poop issues...he can get Snow to poop fairly well every day now. I'm still giving him about 8ml daily of water by syringe about 2ml at a time. Between those 2 things, he's not backing up as much.

The rest of the crew is doing wonderful. After a play and running session, both PepperKitty and LilyKitty have gone btb by the heater. All drooler's are doing well - Sassy/Sasha are still taking daily benadryl but allergy season SHOULD be quitting soon. Ginny/Darla are just silly pups, Ginny just LOVES 'her' kitties but kitties don't necessarily feel the same way - she wants to smell and lick all over them.

Big droolers - Blue/Chloe/Star are all their beautiful selves. Blue still thinks he can catch those squirrels running in the trees.

Thoughts and prayers today for Violet and family helping Garland cross. We also hold close Janet (fb) finding her kitty, Jeff, unresponsive yesterday from hypo - flying vet trip. He pulled thru but is blind today...that may change but if it doesn't, they will love him just as much.

BIG HUGS to all that visit today!

I just KNEW it...KT's been on the computer again reading his condo...

Just got a very smelly, yucky poop so, after donning the gas mask, he just got a full dose of probiotics (hadn't had one for a while) as well as an enzyme dose as he's now wanting to eat again. I give him probiotics in 2 oral syringes after mixing it with water, enzymes are mixed into tbsp of food I know he'll eat prior to giving him food bowl.

This sure is a tightrope we're walking....who signed us up for the circus?

They like to keep us guessing! Will you have to give KT enzymes from now on or is it just a temporary thing? I'm glad everyone is doing so well. :-D :-D I hope the computer keeps running.

I think you may need to keep at least the probiotics as a daily dose. Both Tess and Emma get them daily and you got me thinking about the enzymes for Emma as her poo has always been soft and rather pungent! Vet said it might be IBD. Someone else had recommended this brand years ago. It sounds very similar to the Mercola and quite a bit cheaper on Amazon.

Enzyme replacement is forever. The pancreas damage which caused the loss of enzymes does not typically get better.

Probiotics are living organisms, so once they colonize the intestinal tract, you may be able to reduce or eliminate them. It just depends on the cat. ;-)

Hi Lyresa,
Your crew is sure keeping you busy. I hope that KT will keep on eating and that his elimination will be "normal" (whatever that is!). Sorry to hear about Dakota's little bumps and hope they are nothing serious.
Sending healing vines to your DH!!! And continuing to send vines to Leo and Spike.

Lots of hugs to you and scritches to all the fuzzies,

Ella & Rusty
