Good Morning

Shadow is well, good appetite, 3/5 P's. This has been a very sad place of late, hasn't it? So I am celebrating small victories and came home from work yesterday to find Shadow napping in a rocking chair. With her neuropathy, it has been a while since we have seen her do any kind of jumping and it was heart-warming.

Lovely amps this morning, and how sweet that she was in the chair. It IS heartwarming, isn't it?

Beautiful amps, Kim. Its so nice to hear that Shadow is feeling better. Blackie had really bad neuropathy when he was diagnosed and it cleared up a few months after we got him regulated. With Shadow's great numbers, her's should be cleared up soon.

Kim...somehow I've missed your condo the last couple of days...so sorry....I always like to see how Shadow is doing. How great that she got up in the rocking chair...sometimes it is ALL about baby steps and small victories! Great amps for her. BTW, I saw on Tena's condo that you changed Shadow from +8 to +9 snack..can you tell me how that helps bring the PS down or is it just the same philosophy as +8 snack but ECID? and me too - I always look for you, and some how miss yours all too often. Nice amps for Shadow today. The rocking chair find is so great. Good for Shadow! That really makes me feel good. I hope you guys have a great evening!

Shadow has been running really flat greens. Not sure where the lone blue came from today except that we are giving the automat another try and possibly she ate her snack just before I got home to test her. Or maybe this bottle of insulin is finally playing out. I only opened it 8/9. I have had my first order of cartridges waiting in the wings for quite some time now. I'm off to check some other condos, Have a good night.

I'd go for a new cartridge. Shadow's numbers are looking so good that I wouldn't want to chance toasty insulin.

Can you get a before bed check every night -- please? Pretty please?

Love the SS, so pretty with all that green! Glad to hear about Shadow jumping up onto the rocking chair, it's so nice to see tangible progress, isn't it? :-D

hi kim. any chance of getting some evening nadir checks any time soon?
shadow has been on this dose for 19 cycles now... and doing very, very well. she's also a newly diagnosed kitty. don't tell her, but i'd try sneaking the dose down if i were you. i think she's ready...

when you say "sneak" it down, how much is that, exactly? I am off for 3 1/2 days starting thursday noon. should be a good time for some night-testing?

whatever you're comfortable with... anything from a reduction of 0.25u - 0.1 unit.
if i were in your shoes, i would skinny up the dose (less than 2u, but slightly more than 1.75 units). what you call it isn't important. just try to be as consistent as humanly possible when drawing the dose.

Kim...Dr. Lisa Pierson states she has never had a cat get hepatic lipidosis if that cat was consuming 15 calories/pound/day. Since Gracie's good weight is 8.5 lbs, then 8.5 x 15 = 127.5 but we usually give her about 135 calories/day as she is active. I look to see how many calories are in the can of food I am giving her; so if it's a 3 oz can and it has 132 calories and I know she needs between 65-70 calories/day then I divide 132/3 to get the number of calories in each oz of that can so 1 oz = 44 calories. Then I divide 70/44 (the calories she needs/the calories in one oz) = 1.59 oz. Then I weigh out 1.59 oz and that is her morning cycle portion which I divide into the number of minimeals I'm giving her. Does that help? Ann is really good at actually putting the weight of each helping she gives Tess...I just estimate it because it is usually 1 or 2 tsp per minimeal depending on how many calories are in the can.

Looks like we're the pj party tonight. The rice for later shot times and sleeping later in the morning.

Tess needs about 135 calories a day also, I aim more toward getting her to eat 5.5 to 6 ounces, The calories from the different foods average out. It has become habit to weight the food. I have a small electronic scale that I put her dish on , turn on and dish out the food.

..... Just tested Tess again , 78 I'm off to bed. Good luck tonight.
 
boy, Jill's post was sort of prescient, wasn't it? another couple bits of LC. not much of a pj party when I'm the only one up.
