AMPS 247 shooting 3.25u
I left Boomer with some higher carb last night at +4 which he may have eaten as late as +10.5 so that "may" somewhat account for the high AMPS.

DH has been tearing apart our laundry area....well as much as he can without actually moving the washer and dryer. Using a grinder to remove the dried mud from the tiles and OMG I have so much dust in my house now

It's darn cold here right now but the sun is out! I have a family photo session this afternoon at a park that is usually really beautiful in the fall but I haven't had time to go there to check it out. Photo session is at 3:00 (+8).

Yesterday I went to the pond late; had to wait until I tested Boomer at +3 since DH was golfing. Another photographer and I were walking the path when we heard a tapping....muffled like it was in the distance. Well, it wasn't in the distance! It was in a tree only a few feet away and it was a Pileated Woodpecker pecking on the inside of the tree! He did come out for a couple of photo ops....I also have several shots of him peeking out of his hidey-hole. So today's photo is once again of the Pileated Woodpecker. I think this is my best shot of this guy to date; he was actually out in the light with a beautiful blue sky behind him!

I guess the AMPS was partially influenced by the leftover higher carb food.

Oh , the dust with renovating. I could have dusted twice a day when we were going through it.

WOW!!! I said WOW outloud and asked DH to come look at that pic! Oh Judy, I'm so jealous! I never even get to see those elusive things...and then to get such a great pic! How fabulous!!! I can only hope I'll get a chance like that in Florida this year...or just to see it again...will make me happy!!

Dh tested at+8 while I was out at the photo session. +8 281. haha I'm thinking that's a meter error. DH didn't think to retest.

This bird was on my nemesis list as of the beginning of summer! Now I've seen him 8 times, I think. Oh...I think it's @Olive & Paula that have them in their backyard. I'm happy with the downy and red-bellied in my yard....if I had a pileated I think I would scream lol

Yes, same here...we have lots of 'standard' woodpeckers...Hairy's and Downey's and Red Bellied's (is that word?) but I've never seen a pileated around here (Michigan) only in Florida... Every now and then I see a lovely Common Flicker which I think is anything but common with their beautiful golden underwings! Breathtaking!!

Well the +8 test by DH of 281 was obviously a meter error after seeing the PMPS. Removed from ss with note.

I have read that woodpeckers hollow out cavities in tree trunks, going down about 12 inches, and use the cavity for a nesting site. There is a simulation of this in the Nature Walk at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Your Pileated Woodpecker may have discovered some good grubs in an old nesting site.
