Zener had a good evening last night, frisky and eating well. Doing okay this morning, just a little low energy. Paws crossed the bounce is short lived.

A bounce can take up to 72 hrs. to clear--Not to fret! Patience Pants are on their way :lol: :lol: :lol:

Devon and Linda: 217 @+5. Seems to be a slide of about 40 points per hour. :shock: He does seem to be breaking bounces a little quicker than he used to. I look back fondly at those fairly regular blue cycles of a couple of weeks ago... :smile:

Oops, I forgot to put how Zener is doing today! Liz and I are playing tag team again. And Zener is cruising through the blues!

This has to be Zener's shortest bounce ever, if he is indeed breaking it and not just teasing us! :roll: Still, it's a nice steady slow slide. Appetite not all that great so we gave the 1/4 pepcid a/c. So far, that has usually helped his appetite by the next cycle.

Zener has been on a rock and roll lately. :shock:

Hi Anne, that was a quick bounce, and you still have the PMPS. I hope not a long night for you both. Glad Zener is feeling good today.

Hi Ann, yes it was a quick bounce and he is still dropping @ +11. He is the same as he was yesterday at the same time, but yesterday he was on the way up and today he is still dropping.

Zener's appetite has not been very good today. Couldn't get him to eat mid-cycle at all. Gave him pepcid this afternoon but not much effect yet this evening. Cracked out the MC fuds to see if that would help since he is starting the cycle fairly low. If his appetite doesn't pick up by +1, we may have to use cypro. His numbers are looking good. Paws crossed the big guy starts eating better! :roll:

Well, poor Zener's appetite is in the litter box today despite pepcid this afternoon. We wonder if his bouncy up and downs have some effect? He has been a bit low energy today with poor appetite but his numbers are looking good and litter box behavior has been the same, testing daily for ketones has been negative.

We were concerned with lower numbers at PMPS that he wasn't eating enough to help with the insulin, so we tried about 3 different types of food he has eaten sporadically in the past with no luck. He even tried to cover one like it was poo. :smile: So, we decided to go with cypro to stimulate his appetite, something we haven't used in a long time. We have an appointment with our pet communicator online on Thursday and it may be time to try another acupuncture treatment for appetite stimulation, has worked well in the past.

Thanks Sandy, we're hoping for the same. And that having a bit flatter cycle might help his appetite. Appetite has been a big struggle for us all along this dance floor. We still hold our breaths when we put a bowl in front of him. ;-) We'll be getting a +2 shortly.

Hi Anne, so sorry about Zener's appetite. Is the Cipro for appetite stimulant? Would Zener eat some Gerber chicken & gravy baby food, stage 2 or Beechnut chicken & broth bf? I know it's a worry when they won't eat. Good luck with the AC.

Yes Ann, the cypro is an appetite stimulant. In the beginning, we used this almost everyday. I also was hand feeding and trying every possible food. We tried some baby food during those days and he wouldn't eat it, but we haven't tried it again. We'll investigate with these particular ones and see if he likes them. It is such a worry when he won't eat!

Thanks for stopping in Michelle, it was a nice recovery from the bounce. In general, it seems he recovers more quickly than in the past. We have paws crossed for a nice blue surf and that he starts eating better. Maybe he'll read his condo again, that often works! ;-)

Gosh...what a fantastic day I missed because he really cleared that bounce quickly! I'm so sorry to hear he is not eating well and you had to give him the cypro again. I hope the AC can shed some light on it.

You all did a great job shooting tonight...glad he stopped dropping ;-)

I suspect you are correct - the bounciness may be a bit off putting for Zener. Let's hope it all settles down and he finds his appetite.

Maggie will eat the Gerber chicken & gravy, but it does have cornstarch in it. The Beechnut chicken & broth does not have the cornstarch. Fingers and paws crossed Zener eats tonight and the Cipro kicks in soon. What about plain yogurt?

Oops Sandy, I meant we would get a +1 since his PMPS was low. BG @ +1 was on the upswing 179, so we'll wait for another until around +3 and a before bedtime check, depending on his numbers. Things never seem to go according to our plans, and the funny thing is, we still try to plan! :lol:

aw, i'm so sorry he's not wanting to eat. it does make you worry! the covering up of the food - that's to save it for later! nom nom nom! anya always does that - she'll pull things in to cover up any leftovers.

Marje - our AC is fabulous and always has interesting information to share with us. She used to live here and visited the kitties in person twice. Now she is in Colorado and has done phone and email consults with us. Last time we had her check in, she told us Zener wanted more acupuncture for his appetite.

Sienne - thanks for answering our question about the possible effect of his bouncing around on his appetite. We sure are hopeful he settles down one of these days and we keep plugging along. Our biggest concern when he won't eat is the timing with his insulin, so we pulled out the cypro. We really don't like to do that, but the good side is we have not needed to for quite a long time.

Ann - thanks for the info on the baby foods. Next time we are at the store, we will pick up these and see if he will eat them.

Julie - thanks for cheering the big guy on. I'm glad to know he isn't the only kitty who covers his food. He's only done it once before but I can't remember wht kind of food it was . We watched the video of Punkin' with the pill pockets and showed Zener - see, this is how you need to be about your fuds! We needed a laugh and the video really helped.

We're liking this number at +3, thought it might be a bigger drop since the Z-meister was not eating well. We only gave 1/4 of the cypro tablet (prescription is for 1 pill, and we used to give 1/2) and it looks like this has jump started him to eat a nice amount at +3. Hopefully this will keep us off the express train. ;-) One more before bed check to see how things are looking and if the water alarm needs to be set tonight.

The tiny bit of cypro we gave him worked and he was asking for food! He's eaten a good amount @+3 and +4 so all should be good for this cycle. We sure hate to use the stimulant, but whew, what a relief.
