Yesterday

Morning everyone! Shadow is super-duper this morning! He jumped on the chair, and then onto the table to his testing towel, purring his little head off. Who says you can't train a cat? He is trained or conditioned to expect a BG test and then after eating his breffis or dinner, he knows the shot comes next. Only twice a day does he go back after eating to the testing towel for the shot. As if her knows he gets the shot following those two meals alone....!!!

I got very teary this morning, thinking that of all the darn things that I might have taught him, THIS is what he does...and it's for FD. I suppose fetching and retrieving is for droolers and I can't think of anything that I would like to see my cats DO. (Cooking my meals might be nice...or vacuuming my house) He is really into this routine...and I thought Raja was the smarter one. It always seemed that SHE did all the thinking for the two of them in the past. But now, he is showing such understanding of this whole thing. And purring the whole time through it all....sweet boy!

Good morning! ah yes... it is nice isn't it? Mannie knows too - he is so good about doing what he knows he needs to do, and he never complains. And the purrs! Good boy Shadow - you makes all us beans happy.

Now be a cool kitty and find those greens for your bean, OK?

Hi Pat, Stu always knew, too. I would say "time for AMPS" and he'd be there, or "+4" and he'd come for his test.
Good AMPS today, Shad-0! Looks like he's off to a fine start.
Horrible, cold (34 degrees), rainy/drizzly day today (the 4th in a row: we even had 4 inches of wet snow on Friday!). Hope you have nicer weather in sunny Florida!

Another good AMPS, keep it down there today Shadow, the extra drp should help w/ that.

I think Tess knows too, but often heads in the opposite direction when she hears my alarm. :roll:

Hi Pat. And I thought Checkers was unique. :smile: He comes up on testing table when I tell him "test time" .
And I have to call out "medicine"..
But Shadow does it on his own, so he wins! :-D
My DD taught Checkers and his sibling, to sit, but he has long since forgotten that. Whoever said, cats can't learn?

Morning Pat,

Are you awake now. :smile: First of all nice amps for Shadow. Sara doesn't go to the testing spot. I go to her wherever she is, and she sits down while I test her and she purrs the whole time too. She is trained also. In the begining I had my doughts but she proved me wrong. Also I was surprised to see her feed herself when she was low.

BTW I've done the bounce off walls in the middle of the night on my way to test Sara. You'd think I'd been drinking. :shock:

Shadow is such role model as well. I've got Curry trained to jump to her testing spot....but its followed by grrrrrrrrr w/swift head bobs to miss the lancet. Silly girl. What makes it worse now is that her sister comes to watch and really angers Curry.

Cats are smart & cunning, sweet, & manipulative, but ours understand what we are doing, and are grateful for it! Even though they can be difficult at times! Such loveys!
Shadow is doing great-Such nice amps today--Such a good boy!!

Pat, those are wonderful moments that you 2 share each and every day. :) I know you cherish them immensely. :) Just like I cherish those rare moments that Blackie lays down on my lap on her own volition. I love those moments of her former self. :)

Pat, I love your stories of how smart, sweet, and cooperative Shadow is, they just warm my heart. Muffin learned the test/shoot routine really quickly as well, and unless she's not feeling well, she always shows up when she hears me getting ready. The down side to her cleverness, however, is that when I go to the bookcase to get her medicine in the evening, she knows what that's all about too, and takes off in the other direction! :lol:

The LC at +4 didn't keep him from going down to where he wanted to be. So, he got a little HC and LC again at +5.
I usually go up .25u all the time but last night I thought I'd just add the fat to the dose to see what would happen instead of going up the full .25u. Maybe that little extra will do the trick...we shall see....

I am so amazed at how good these cats are and that they know its for well being. He's such a good boy to cooperate so much. I poke my finger with that thing and it ain't fun :sad: So it's even more amazing that they stay there and purr. Special people get special pets. :YMHUG:

PS I kinda like that cooking idea though. Let me know if you ever get that going ;-)

Boy have I missed out on a lot this morning!! Look at Shadow love his dose!! He sounds like such an amazing guy and I know how much you love them, Pat.

Nice green surf Shadow! Nice that he's so sweet and cooperative, Pat. Tinkles actually comes very willingly when he sees the treat container in my hand and purrs through the testing, but he won't jump up on the counter, he makes me pick him up. I always shoot while he's eating, it's just easier for me.

More gravy and more gravy....I shot a half an hour late and took the fat off the dose. The HC didn't seem to bring him up all that much although I was giving it to him today. I have some work to do tonight, right? LOL...We will be busy for awhile. He is being such a good boy with all my annoying fussing over him. Time for another test in a few....
I have come to the point where I no longer remember my days previous to this diagnosis. Feeling like this is a very long intense dream......

Holy Cow, I've been so immersed in my own drama, I missed yours, Pat. It's a race to see who gets to go to bed first.
Wonder if they will let us sleep an extra half hour, since we will be shooting later? :lol:
My DD jokingly told me last week to put out a bowl of karo and go to bed. Hmmmmmmmm :lol:
 
But Barb...Raja is still on her schedule...I hate when this happens...but it is only 15 minutes difference tomorrow morning. there was a time way back when...oh...it wasn't so nice at all...I think they were an hour apart in everything. @-)
I was thinking about that tonight as I was stalling....
 
Yeah, the little buggers don't care if they keep us up all night. They still think they should be fed on time.
And then, there's the others.....sigh.
