After an awful night and a really worried mamabean, China's doing better today!

It was a slow start...still not 100% on her appetite at AMPS, but no puking so far today and I'd rather see the high 100's than the mid 200's anytime (if I have to anyway)

As the day has gone on, she's shown more interest in food so I've been giving her small meals when she's seemed interested. Not worried right now about what kind of effect feeding late in the cycle might do to her numbers...more interested in keeping her eating

Heard from the vet...wish I'd written down the numbers she gave me but basically she said her kidneys are stable...the BUN was a little better than it was in March but the creatinine was a little higher (but not much) so I'm happy about that. They're going to send me the test results so I'll have the numbers.

She suggested doing a USG to further check on how her kidneys are doing so we'll plan on doing that next time we go in.

As for the coughing, she said she didn't see anything that just SCREAMS asthma, but we should do a chest x-ray to see what's going on in there. Had to bite my tongue because when we were there last week I had asked for one but she wanted to get the BW done first.

BG was 187....which she was duly impressed with considering the stress of the trip. At least she does understand and accept the fact that stressed numbers can be different from numbers at home!

Had our first frost last night and there's a chill in the air today...which just means I'm getting more kitty snuggles! :):) I keep my thermostat on my heater pretty low for cost reasons, so snuggling with kitties is what I call "mutually beneficial".....although I got to say I wish I could package and re-sell the heat that comes off of 60lbs of cats!! If you get too warm with a blanket, you can toss it off....ever try to toss 3 cats that are dead to the world, comfortable and don't WANT to move??

Hoping we have a better evening tonight than we did last night. So far, so good!

Oh, wow. Just caught up with yesterday. Whew. So glad China's better today. Now, little (well, maybe not so little) girl, keep feeling better and better and better. Vines on the way.

Sublingual...under the tongue? Between cheek and teeth? Either probably.

Blood work sounds encouraging! Good.

I am so pleased China is eating some food for you.
Have you ever thought of buying some of these strips to test the urine instead of paying to have it done at the vets. Much cheaper. I keep some and check Sheba's protein levels every so often, also the USG and if I am concerned she might have a UTI I can check that too. The USG reads a bit lower on the strips then it does on the refractometer at the vets.

So glad China is feeling better!

Snickers loves to snuggle BUT if I move around too much she will leave. Her civvie brother, Milton, however.....You can throw him off and he just keeps coming back! Well, you can try and throw him, he weighs 18lbs. Not all fat, though, he is a tall, long cat.

I'm jealous of your kitty snuggles! In the 15 yrs that Ivana has been in our family, she has never ever sat on my lap, and only sat on hubby's lap once when we were at Bron's place learning home testing, because she was scared. I want kitty snuggles tooooooooooo :cat::cat::cat::cat::cat: Although it's hot here, so maybe not right now...

I'm glad China is feeling better today and eating for you. Good news on the b/w. I hope you can get a handle on the coughing.

Sublingual...under the tongue?

Exactly!! It's supposed to dissolve under the tongue...ever try to explain that to a cat?...LOL I got it from my mom...she was prescribed it awhile back and didn't use it all so I took some to have around here "just in case"....I've only used it a couple of times but it seems to work OK. I did talk to the doctor about it today...she sounded like she'd never heard of it....Oh well

Was really shocked by that PMPS!! Was expecting higher, but I'll definitely take it....just wish her appy was 100%...she's eating some, but not "normally" yet. I do have some cypro I can give her if I really need to, but if I'm not totally sure she's not still having problems with nausea, the last thing I want to do is stimulate her appetite...especially as well as the cypro works on her!!

Going to just keep doing what I've been doing and giving her small amounts of food as often as I can get her to eat it willingly for now

So glad she's feeling better and eating better. I don't always give Vyktor 2 hours food free before PS either. Got to get that food into him and we're experienced enough and test enough to take any food influence into account. Sending appy and feel good vines for Miss China.

OK now China....mama's had a very long afternoon/evening....it's past time to go to bed so let's knock this off!!

She's still not eating enough for me to feel comfortable not testing anymore tonight...did give her a couple of licks of 12% just to "encourage" her
