Well not sure if he got any insulin from last night's shot since the syringe expelled before I got it in him but at least he is not higher.

Still not liking the numbers. Will probably raise to 1.5u on Sunday when I return from my little trip to Lynchburg.

I use to have that problem but now I don't recap the syringe after I draw the dose I just lay it on the counter so the needle rest in the cap. Then when I pick it up I hold it needle down loosely between my fingers.

Plus if you are using the uti vet syringes they are triple bevelled and I found they were a bear to keep the insulin in or when you get to microdosing to get them screw up to squeeze out consistent drops.

Of all the brands I have used they were my least favorite because of all the insulin I wasted

That is most helpful to know. Yes they are the Vet Rx syringes and while I like the lubricant because the plunger moves so easily to the right dose, I don't like the discharge. I have to put the cap on to carry the syringe up the stairs to his room where he is tested and shot. I did notice that there is always a drop released when I push up to proper dosing. I certainly can't afford to waste insulin especially since I am down a pen because of the one that went bad. I will not be purchasing these syringes anymore. They were my back-up syringes. I have the Relions and will definitely look at the BDs.

Here's a thought...when I had both Musette and Autumn on insulin I would test and shoot Musette in her room and Autumn in the kitchen. What I did was keep their syringes with their testing kits in their respective areas. Then take the pens with me and while I was setting up the meter I would also draw their dose. And literally test feed and shoot in one fluid movement. Pick them up test their ear, plop food down, and shoot while they munched. Then take the pen back to the fridge. Now of course I did that because back then they were on two different doses and different insulins. But should work just as well in your circumstance.

Yeah, I tried that. I draw the dose and get the raw food bagged in warming water and then take the syringe up and do a test and leave the syringe there. When Nuzzles was here, it was easier to do it all at once - test, shoot and then feed. Alska did not like that at all! In fact he would run away right after testing when usually he was calm. He definitely did not like me doing it all at once. Sometimes I tried to do it on weekends but now he sits right up as soon as testing is done so he can be brushed. If I try to push him down again - he is a goner. To keep the stress down, I went back to going back downstairs after testing, dishing out the warmed raw and bringing it back up and then shooting and feeding. They are such creatures of habit and a little deviation is such a big deal to them. The funny thing about going up and down the stairs is that I have two bad knees (one of which has been approved for replacement) so I have to double step the stairs. Oh well, good exercise. I tried to move all of this downstairs by creating a portable testing kit but Alska did not like the counter or the other cats who would jump up to see what was going on. It was a disaster.

The lighting in the kitchen is so much better for loading the syringe anyway.

I think I would pull all my hair out if I had different insulins. Good golly, doing two sugarcats in the early am hours was hard enough! Don't know how you do it. I certainly understand mothers who show up to work with one black shoe and one brown. Sometimes I feel fortunate to have any shoes on at all when I leave the house,
