Good afternoon!

My old laptop is failing, and I have 1000s of pictures I need to put on a separate hard drive today. I'm bad about backing up on a regular basis. Plus, I keep having problems staying logged on. Other than that, all is great!

Fluid therapy went marvelously yesterday. I warmed the water and used an infrared thermometer to check temp. I also found some 22 gauge needles (vet gave me 18 gauge, and I used those twice. Made me cringe, and she flinched once). I even got an IV stand. (I'll be doing this on my own frequently, and need all the right tools to help and give me confidence). The 22 gauge process took maybe 15 minutes, but we caught Tina relaxing on her ortho bed after her dinner. The needle went in effortlessly, she didn't flinch as she did with the 18 gauge. It was peaceful, and she just enjoyed the petting. She stayed in that spot for an hour afterward, then got up and stretched, and said thanks:cat: I thought the 22 gauge might take more time than Tina would allow, but that wasn't the case:) I feel a hundred times better with the smaller needle.

Oh - Tina went outside yesterday through the window, by herself!!! She had been going back in, after I'd take her out, but hadn't yet gone out on her own. I am still working on extra safety features for her. It's a gorgeous day - 60s or so, and that's what I will casually work on today, with no helpful husband getting in the way.

All good thoughts and appreciation to you all, and love to all of our dear cats.

I sure hope Tina knows what a great mom she has.
Tina must feel so much better with the fluids. I'm glad that you're getting used to doing it. Practice makes perfect! Remember when we first had to stick out little kitty's ears, I would actually shake. And then the big insulin syringe, but somehow we all did it and now we are used to it. You will feel the same way about the fluids before you know it.
Glad your weather is in the 60's, I still have 88 right now, feels hotter out there! I want snow :(

Tell Tina that Yoyo was looking for her to go to lunch, shrimp and tuna shakes, but he got delayed with a snooze;)

You are so kind, with great words to boot! I told my dad I feel like I have a cat hospital at home now, and he reminded me I wanted to be a veterinarian. Just told him how right he was.
Tina wants me to get back outside to work on her outhouse!! Oh no, she is just now hearing about the shrimp and tuna shakes - she's awake and waiting on Yoyo to wake up and head for a great late lunch:cat::cat:
I'm thrilled about that smaller needle - wasn't much harder to get in than a tiny insulin needle. This vet's office just wants to hurry more than they want comfort for your pet.

Awww...that's so sweet! Glad to hear things are going well for Tina and the fluids. Yep...you gotta make the changes that you know are better for her :)

Have a great evening Jan...and I know you'll be backing up those photos...I've been in IT for a very long time...and we all know there are only two kinds of computers...

The one that is working...and the one that isn't...the one's that die...ugh...very difficult then to have someone retrieve your info from the harddrive...if it's retrievable...sometimes it gets corrupted...and data (images, etc.) cannot be retrieved...

Get yourself an external hard drive and get to it :)

I have remembered you are an IT person; extremely handy talent! I wish I could soak up your knowledge. Since it was so nice outside, I didn't get those images transferred earlier, but am just about to do so - I promise both of us. My external drive is right next to me.
I got a few things done on Tina's health history binder (seriously, I was an Admin for years) then I worked on the cat house, then husband came home early with a ramp to replace the stairs inside in the bathroom. He wants to help so much, but my own perceived artistry goes out the door, and I start compromising . . . because he wants to join the fun:nailbiting:

Tina is wonderful - love the now simple help I can give:)

Looking good, Tina!!!

I’m glad the 22g are working out. I used 21g but not because Gussie wouldn’t have laid there as long as I needed him to; it was my lack of patience standing there  because I always had something to do with another cat; we had another CKD cat, Gracie was diabetic, blah blah blah :p Little Miss Unpatience Pants (me) had to speed it up a bit

Hope you are doing fantastic!

And I hope you are fabulous:smuggrin:
Your video with Gussie, demonstrating the whole process was all I needed to make this much less stressful AND a non-event for Tina (after warming fluid and using smaller needle), other than being loved on and pet, when she was ready to fall asleep. I know there could be times that aren't always perfect, but we will deal.:bighug:
BTW, I asked for 21g like you used, but I wanted one inch long, and those were one and a half. Even those 18s I got from the vet were only one inch long.
I'm happy:)
