Rosy was a rainbow cat yesterday. Started in purple moved to green at PMPS, a green 50 at PM+2 where I gave her a drop of honey with her LC & she slowly rised to yellow at PM+8. Maybe I should not give her the honey...Not planning to give her further reduction as this was her third cycle after the reducie from 1.75u to1.5u I believe the dip to 50 is caused by the shed from the previous dose.
Today
All is well in Tortieland. Their meal getting more complicated as each have their own demand.  That's the biggest headache in this multicat household. Not to mention the 3 sisters who insisted dry knibbles, no canned at all!

AMPS 302 gave Wiskas +Wellness & 1.5u
(+food @+2)
AM+3 355 canbe food?

:?: I would like to know if you are giving Lysine (powder form) as supplement to your cat? My friend recommend me to give to cats with chronic upp resp issue but I read on the bottle label that it is not recommended to people with kidney problem.

Re: 10/16 Rosy AMPS 302/ 3 355 Lysine as supplement?

Helen

L-Lysine supplements are usually given to cats that have herpes....I give it to Tobey. If the upper respiratory is due to the herpes virus, it might help. If it isn't, I'm not sure I'd give her a supplement like that all the time. It might help her during outbreaks of URIs even if they aren't attributable to herpes. If she does have or carry the herpes virus, it's a good idea to give it to her. The maintenance dose for a 10 lb cat is 250 mg bid; during outbreaks, it's 500 mg bid. That's using the Viralys powdered L Lysine.

I believe it can be used as an immune system booster, as well. It's not going to "cure" a URI. I don't know what the implications are for kidney issues.

Re: 10/16 Rosy AMPS 302/ 3 355 Lysine as supplement?

Thanks Marje , Sienne & Rhiannon for the input & visit! Yes, my cats with URI are herpes carriers. Since they were all from stray mums ( hey, their biological mom is not me! ) Some have been wandered in back alley for sometime before they found their home at Tortieland, some of them are positive carriers. Despite numerous vet visits, this can never be cleared. That's how I got the Lysine for trial.

Hi Helen,

I'm sorry you've got so much to deal with!! I saw another Lysine-product posted as a link (I think it was Sienne who posted it a while back but I'm not certain), in case you cannot find the one Marje posted: iHerb Lysine.

Hugs to you and your gang!
