Well we took Moonie’s dose up this morning. Hopefully this is the breakthrough dose that she needs right now.

Maybe a better question for the kidney forum - but for those of you who have had CKD kitties, are there any lab work / diagnostics you’d recommend beyond the typical panel? We’re taking Rakko for his 6 month check-up tomorrow and I’m now furiously trying to read up on CKD. I’ve been letting life get in the way of being the mom that Rakko deserves and I’m going to do my best to change that.

Happy Friday!

Hi Connie, I don't know for sure what is the typical/basic panel in the USA, but I would ask for:

- SDMA (more reliable results if he does not have a infection right now. Otherwise, better to wait until he is more stable - unless if kidneys are clearly suffering now, then you can do it)
- Phosphorus
- Potassium
- Electrolytes

- Urinalysis
- Urine Specific Gravity (USG)
- Urine Protein-to-Creatinine Ratio (UPC)

Creatinine and BUN are the basic ones, I would say... usually.

I hope it helps :cat:
Rakko. This is a nice name!

Thanks Clarice! I think we did all the blood work ones but we haven't done the urinalysis in a while so that's a great reminder :)
