We are still trying to battle these ketones. The goal is to get them to 0.0

Meter Readings:

0 to 1.6 Are considered negative (although 1.6 is almost trace)
1.6 to 8.0 are trace to moderate
8.0 + are high ketones

Yesterday at 8am ketones were 5.7

at 8pm they were 1.4

Today at 830am they are 2.1

Re: 10/16 Garland AMPS 254

It looks like you may want to add some R this morning. I'm hoping that Sandy or Libby will be by to give this the OK. Let's hope that today is a repeat of yesterday.

Re: 10/16 Garland AMPS 254

Hi Violet & Garland,

Wishing you good ketone control today! You are doing so well, Violet, with all that's on your plate. I hope that things will begin to calm down soon. Garland is a lucky kitty to have you for her mamabean.

Hugs from,
Ella & Rusty

Gave the .1u R with her Lantus. But it didnt seem to help.... numbers are on the verge of pink.

Im leaving and will be gone for the next 3-4 hours. Its my grandmothers birthday so we are taking her to lunch, cake, etc...

When I get back I plan on giving her the fluids for the day. Should I try more R then?

Re: 10/16 Garland AMPS 254 +2 270 +4 294

R isn't really meant to yank down the numbers, just to give the Lantus an easier place to work from. 0.1u of R basically helps cover the usual +1 food spike and helps keep the bounces from being so high. If you gave more R, it it might bring the numbers down more, but it also might set her up for lots of bouncing.

I don't think I would give R at the same time as fluids this time. Yesterday she dropped a good bit after her fluids, so it's best to play it a little safe until we know for sure if that is a pattern for her, or just a one time occurrence. What + hour will you give giving fluids?

let's see what the number is. R should be fine if she is over 200 and if you can monitor through +4 if needed.

Re: 10/16 Garland AMPS 254 +2 270 +4 294 +8 284 100cc @+9

are you able to monitor tonight? How is the food situation going, is she eating enough?

With a pink preshot tonight, I would be ok with trying 0.25u of R if you will monitor as needed through +4. What do you think? It's just a drop more than you are giving.

I hope I did the R dose right. What is that very first line on the syringe? I know the first little line is .5

Food is okay. Still eating less, but interested big time. Really wants dry food, but im too nervous to let her eat. I've forced fed here and there. Today she's had 2 cans so far plus 2 oz recovery.

Re: 10/16 Garland PMPS 314

The very first LONG line is "0". Then the first short line is .5u. So you want to be half way in between the two with the top of the plunger for the .25u dose.

If you open the link and scroll down, you'll see what some of the doses look like and the last one is .25u...they are labelled:

Doses

Great job....you have Libby on board for the "R", giving fluids...good; eating...good job to keep supplementing her and get those numbers back down.

You are amazing!

here is a picture of 0.25 units. Does this look like what you gave her?
Thank you!! :) Okay, yea, just wanted to make sure. Thats the line I aimed for. Its such a fine dose, I just hope it was right... it may have been a little less though...
