Not is usual low blues, but you know, after the yellow numbers he got yesterday, I certainly am not complaining. I'm hoping that the dose crease will help bring those numbers down nicely.

WCR: After his +7 test and snack last night, Spot jumped up on the bed and proceeded to lay down on my stomach, purring up a storm as he was getting his love. I drifted back to sleep and woke up a few hours later and he was still there! He was laying next to me when I got up for work this morning.
Since I was able to get up later this morning, I tested/fed/shot as soon as I got up so there was no pacing around, waiting for his food. He was furry and purry for his test and ate every single morsel in his bowl. After eating, he made his way to the testing area where he asked for more freeze dried chicken...yes, he got some. He is now chilling on the arm of my broken  recliner, purring up a storm. So, right now, only one p in place...purring.
oooopssss, there goes another one...he's giving himself a bath now!

Grammie bean home today. Will re-test him when she gets up and then once more before I get home. I will try to get him into the vet this afternoon.

Another sad day in LL....Kasha will be crossing the bridge this afternoon. Hugs to Krys and peaceful passing vines to Kasha. We love you!

YAY Spot!! Better this morning. Come on down buddy, back to the greens.

Hey Spot! I am off to rescue Tess this morning - she had to go in the bean car and has to spend the day in a kitty traveling condo. We are going to the fish market too - you wanna come? ~~ Mannie

+9 ~ 125
Just got home from the vet, not our usual one, but the one who works on the weekends. She could see nothing physically wrong with Spot. His temp was 100.7, his eyes and ears look good, teeth look good, breathing good. Belly feels normal. So I guess it's just Mr. P being a jerk.

Spot is happy to be back home. He is relaxing and sleeping on his chair in the DR. Me, well, I've got a slight headache and am tired, so I may take some time to visit a few condos and then take a nap.

Dian, I think his pancreas has decided to stop working, plain and simple. Just going to give him his .5u dose tonight and hopefully his numbers will not go to far above the 120 mark.
Funny, this was a new vet...a young women. She was very impressed with how tightly regulated I have Spot. She said to me...well, I know you think 180 is high, but for me, I tell all my new diabetics that 250 is a good number to keep them at since they don't test. I said to her....well, don't you advise them to test? And she said...well, lots of people don't like to make their animals bleed. To which i replied "well, I'm sure they wouldn't want to make their kids bleed either, but if they had diabetes, they wouldn't just give them the insulin w/o testing. Well, she said, sometimes you just have to trade off...I said, no....it's irresponsible to not test your animal w/o testing. To which she said, well, you do a wonderful job.
I don't think she liked the fact that I was more educated than her on the issue of FD, but, hey, I don't care.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Mr. P can not give up so easily
I know what ya mean DEB, they back out really quick or just smile and nod. at least the vet I use (my sis's) for bad stuff, is willing to learn.

Awesome vet report - glad spot is ok, sorry that mr pancreas is on vacation. i hope it will get back on track for spot.

Love your conversation with your vet. Vets and FD: it just never ceases to amaze me, never. kudos to you!

Glad he's ok and I hope just a little juice will entice Mr. P back to work!!

My vet said the same thing about her clients...most of them just don't want to do the hometesting or put the committment into it. But she is all for everything we do..I'm sure her job would be easier if more people would try to do this...she is not all about the money; she's about the cat. I think for alot of people ignorance is bliss...we all know the contrary.

Me tinks dat Mr. Spot is back in da house! At least for now, he is :-D
He is now hanging out on his chair on the porch, being totally content with the world!

Thanks to everyone who showed their concern for Spot and gave us support...it is very very appreciated!!

no blood work is being done for now. Will see how things go for the next few days. Truthfully, there was something about this vet that I didn't care for. I think it was the way she reacted when I started telling her how much I learned from the board, like she was just humoring me or something. Can't really put my finger on it. My vet works during the week. I'll give her a call on Monday and get her input.

Re: 10/16 Deb's Spot pm +2.5 ~ 167

oh poop...thought for sure I'd see some green. Oh well, he's happy, that's all that counts~

so many vets tell their clients that, i guess. mine were insistent about the 250.
well, it's one thing when clients don't want to spent much money or do much to keep their cats in good numbers. sadly, it seems more clients are like that than not, or so many vets wouldn't have to deal with people wanting to PTS or give up their cats upon any serious health diagnosis.

where i feel saddest is when vets don't even tell their clients that this can be done, so some who might take our approach don't even know to try. and not everyone feels emboldened enough to do a google search to find help for their cat and even find out on their own. very sad.

anyway, yes, spot's numbers are excellent for a diabetic. so Mr P decided he needed a little break -- that's okay. we'll just hope he gets back in gear and spot doesn't need insulin for much longer.

So sorry that Spot's numbers are being funky Deb but so glad nothing was outwardly wrong. You are watching and doing all you can. I hope things turn around fast for Spot and he sees blues and greens.
