Kathy:

It will be hugely helpful if you could please take the time to set up a spreadsheet. We are very numbers oriented in this forum. A spreadsheet will allow you to keep track of what's going on with Dabey's progress and it is the only way that we can help you. If you open any of our threads (we call them "condos"), you'll see that we all have spreadsheets attached to our signatures. The information on how to do this is in the Tech Support forum.

Kathy,
Re - the spreadsheet - that danged thing people keep bugging you to post - let me guess:

I don't have TIME to do that spreadsheet. I have all my notes down right here on these pieces of paper. All I have to do is get my paper and I'm good to go. I can look at 4 days ago just fine, I don't need to do all that work when I have so many other things to do...I sure wish they'd quit bugging me about it...

Was I fairly close to right? Every one of us has used this same excuse to ourselves. BUT since I bit the bullet and just did it, I discovered that it was one of the BEST tools in my diabetic toolbox! Right next to Karo! There are 2 things that make the spreadsheet critical:

1) When all your numbers are on paper, the human brain can't see PATTERNS. You can see the numbers of one day, one time but the brain needs something to make sense of that puzzle of numbers. After you set it up once, then just pop that number right in, the spreadsheet itself works to color it and patterns begin to emerge. You can SEE what happens afterwards when you make a change. It might not happen for 24-48 hours but you'll notice that it happens each time. You'll begin to see 'bounces' and THEN be able to predict what will probably happen.

2) All members that are trying to help you thru a problem have access to that same tool to understand the patterns also. They are used to looking for certain things that their experience tells them is important. Sure all cats are different but diabetes is mostly similar.

So....hugs to both of you and...get that spreadsheet done.... ;-)
