Could someone help me understand why his duration has shortened? He drops down to his usual nadir at +2/+3 but then comes right back up. It used to last much longer than that. Residual inflammation from his pancreatitis maybe? Is there any way to fix it or do I just have to wait it out and hope he goes back to normal? I've also tapered his gaba dose down from every 8 hours to every 10 hours within the last 3 days. I wonder if that could be playing into it.

Wishing everyone a safe day

Can you tell me what point in the cycle you give meds? 12AM/PM and 2 don't tell me what this is in relation to the shots. Is the gaba a pill or compounded liquid or?

One other possibility is that he's a mini bounce - hard to say what he's doing in the night cycle. Or perhaps a little constipation?

How is Charlie feeling in general?

For the last 3 days he's been getting gaba every 10 hours, so the time changes. The last few days:
10/14: AMPS and +10
10/15: +8 (overnight PM cycle) and +6
10/16: +4 (overnight PM cycle) and +2

His next dose is at PMPS tonight. I was going to try to move to an every-12-hour schedule from there so he'll be getting it at AMPS and PMPS every day. I'm a little nervous in case there's still background pain. Do you think I should stay at this schedule for another few days? It's a compounded liquid suspension, 100mg per 1ml. He gets 100mg every 10 hours.

He pooped yesterday morning (day 4). The IM vet had me start giving him psyllium husk which I've been slowly introducing since the night before The Poop.

He seems to be feeling mostly better I think? He's been asking for walks and scratching on his post. Back to his regular mobility on walks. He doesn't really play with toys much anymore but he's curious about stuff. His breathing has been smoother and slower. Purring and interacting with me again. One weird thing is that he's kind of obsessed with his auto-feeder. He just lays there staring at it all night as if he's worried he's going to miss it opening. I wonder if he's not getting enough rest. And just in general he's hungry allllll the time.

I can try to get a late cycle test tonight to see if he's dropping while I'm asleep. What time do you recommend?

ETA: I was giving Cerenia between +3 to +4 but have moved it back and will now give it at +2 every day. Cobalaquin at +4

I'm glad he seems to be recovering. That's a good time to slowly taper off the supportive meds.

Doesn't look like it's the meds doing anything to his numbers. What is his feeding schedule?

Neko's best buddy was nicknamed Otto(feeder). If not lying beside it, she could fly there in an instant if she heard it open. I ended up putting a comfy bed beside the feeder.

The later PM test depends, based on any big drops to +2 or not. Maybe +4? Just to confirm if he's seeing the same pattern as the AM cycle.

His feeding schedule is nuts, basically as if he was free feeding. Small meals from AMPS hourly up to +4/5, then a +8 and +9, then PMPS, then +1, +2, +4, + 7, +10 (those last 3 are auto fed). I try to ignore him when he harasses me for more food in between feedings but sometimes I cave 😬 he gets around 375 kcals a day last time I did the math.

Lol I love the nickname 😂 that’s good to know it’s normal for them to act like that. I was worried it was causing stress. I gave him a little blanket nest next to it too and he sleeps in it, sometimes with a paw outstretched toward the feeder 😭

I’ll grab a +4 tonight to get a baseline and next time there’s a drop at +2.
