Hey everyone, just a quick update tonight.... Wanted to say thank you all for the appy vines and healing vines and prayers for Jupiter. His appy is improving and he ate well today!!!! Continued vines and prayers for him would be greatly appreciated :-D

His BG yesterday was 56!

I have a question regarding test strips... The pack we have has been opened now for 3 months... it says they are good for 3 months after being opened.... so should these be discarded soon? Can these give false readings? Has anyone else used them past the 3 month date and had any problems?

Healing vines and prayers for Randi's Chloe, Angela's Bubba, Lyresa's Spike and KT, and all other kitties in need.

COUPONS
I have few extra coupons left for $1 off 24 cans of Fancy Feast, any variety. They expire 11/04/13. If anyone can use a few of these, please message me with your address and I will mail some to you!

Re: 10/16 Jupiter

I don't know about the strips...but wahooo on an awesome Jupiter report!!! Our prayers continue!!!

Re: 10/16 Jupiter- update, coupons, test strip question

they could go bad - exposure to air you know, but chances are your readings are correct. If you want to be sure, test yourself and see how it reads for you or test another non-diabetic kitty or goggie.

Oh I'll take coupons - do you still have my addy?

Re: 10/16 Jupiter- update, coupons, test strip question

So happy to hear that Jupe is doing well and eating well. Good job, Jupe! (you too, Jamie!).

You should probably be thinking about getting new test strips pretty soon.

Have a fine evening,

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 10/16 Jupiter- update, coupons, test strip question

I did what Hillary suggested the last time I tested Bob. His strips were months past expiration. I wasn't about to buy 50 more so I could test him twice a year. So I tested myself. I was normal, so I had confidence Bob's reading was also okay. But yes, when you can, get some more. I used to buy them in 50 per pack, but Walmart used to sell them in smaller quantity packs (I think 20?). It will cost you more per strip, but if you aren't going to use them before the expiration date, buying 50 isn't going to save you any money in the long run.

Re: 10/16 Jupiter- update, coupons, test strip question

Everytime I post that his appy is improving.... it goes right back to being poor again

Next time so I dont jinx it.... Im going to have to word something differently I guess

:YMSIGH: I just want him to eat!!!!!

Re: 10/16 Jupiter- update, coupons, test strip question

Hi Jamie,
Sending good appy vines to Jupiter.
I hope he's eating today.

Re: 10/16 Jupiter- update, coupons, test strip question

Hey Jaymie-
Stop letting Jupiter have computer access will fix his appy
he goes online while you are sleeping to check on all of his pals-(this is a joke from long ago)
If you do not speak of appy- it does improve- so think of another word for appetite-
meat & veggies?

10/18 IMPROVEMENT UPDATE

A quick update tonight:
Regarding Jupiter and the food situation----Well I cant say because I dont want to jinx it.... but here is how I feel about it >> :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Well I really hope I dont jinx this.... but I think he ate a NORMAL amount today!!!! I have got to figure out the amount that all 3 cats should be eating since they share food.... so far today for Jupe and his 2 sisters, 7 cans of FF!!!! the 7th can not yet finished though!

He is running and playing and doing so great. My biggest worry at this point is.... I dont want him to lose all this progress when he has a 2nd chemo treatment. Hes finally improving and I can tell he is feeling great! Just dont want to start this process again of him not feeling well after chemo. :YMSIGH: I know chemo is still the best thing for him though.

GREAT NEWS!!!

Oh...shhhhh...don't want Jupiter to hear ....great news on the "eats" Jamie!!

Keep munching Jupiter...we all want you to be strong, healthy and happy!!

Speak with the oncologist to see if there is anyway to give a lesser dose of chemo or maybe not give all the suggested doses, considering the side effects he had to the first one.

Also, maybe he won't have the same reaction to the next one. Talk with the oncologist, maybe there is more you can do before/after treatment to keep the appy up.

Great news on the you know what ;-)
Isn't funny how we can't say anything about anything around here  Maybe we just need to start saying the opposite ;-)
Glad to hear Jupe is feeling so good dancing_cat
Happy Caturday Jamie!
