Yesterday was another yellow (mostly flat) day. This morning was the 6th cycle at 2.25 U, so I guess tonight we'll go to 2.5 U. I hope that's the magic number to get a little action.

Today we start a new adventure. We got a grinder (thanks Dianne!) and will be making our first batch of cat food. I've really been looking forward to taking control over this part of the sugar dance. No more depending on the manufacturers! I'm hoping Weezer and Doobie (civie) go for it, but we are ready for a slow transisiton if it's required.

Wishing for a kitty day for all, purrs, play, sunny spots and lots of love.

Re: 10/15 Weezer AMPS 229

Paws crossed that Weezer decides to drop down out of the yellows for you.

Grinder, homemade cat food....better than me!!!! We ended up going with Nature's Variety Raw...lol...

Re: 10/15 Weezer AMPS 229

oooooo - and awesome on the new food adventure!! Kudos to you for even trying. I hope they take to it well, I hear good things about it. Good luck!

and Weezer - the threat is out there - more juice for you, so you better get those numbers down, I think your bean is serious....

Have a great day guys!

Re: 10/15 Weezer AMPS 229

Good morning! Good luck with your new food adventure! I hope Weezer will appreciate all that you are trying to do for her. Well, even if she acts as if she doesn't, we all know that deep down she loves the attention! Glad to hear about the cuddles in bed the other day...hope that will continue for yous. Enjoy!
(an ya know, yellows are much better to see than some other colors that I will not mention here...)

Hi Linda, good luck with making of the new food. It will be interesting to watch Weezer's numbers. I've always been curious about the raw foods but haven't investigated it enough. I'll be watching. You are a great Bean, and Weezer is one lucky kitty.

Re: 10/15 Weezer AMPS 229

I am very impressed that you are going to make your own food. I am so interested in seeing how Weezer does with the food. I was tempted to buy some raw food at the holistic pet store I was at yesterday, but ended up buying too many cans of food so my pocketbook wouldn't allow me to buy the raw too. One of these days I'm going to see if Simon will eat it and if it helps with his allergies. I don't think I will be able to grind the food myself. I barely can make my own meals! Good luck and have a great weekend.

Lisa - we make our own food for the dogs and really believe it makes a tremendous difference in everything about them. I can't wait to hear about your perspective. We saw changes in their coats, their energy level, their breath, their bowel and bladder....
My Boo is FIV, so my vet was against us feeding raw to him. I need to do some more research because although I can see her point on certain fronts, I'm not convinced that the benefits wouldn't outweigh the risks.
Are you using Dr. Lisa's recipe?

Re: 10/15 Weezer AMPS 229, +6 193

I just got back from shopping for the rest of the ingredients and we are gearing up. My DH is doing the hard stuff :-D :-D . I'm thinking it will go well. I just sliced up a gizzard and offered to Weezer and Doobie and woosh!! It's gone before it hit the plate! I am using Dr. Lisa's recipe. We'll be watching numbers to see how it affects the bg. I can't claim the gizzards helped with the +6, but look - blue!!!

How does she do that?? At + 12 she was at 167, so I stalled15 minutes, during which time she jumped over 70 points!!

Sandy, I'll have to eat my words (yum!). Since she gave me two blues today, I'll stay with the 2.25 for a couple more days and see how she does.

Glad to hear the cat food making went well! As an FYI, if you are making large batches, I have found that a large roasting pan makes for an excellent mixing container. I put all the supplements into hot water in a bowl or large measuring cup so they can dissolve, I cook the liver/gizzards/etc. and run them through a mini chopper so they are more like a liquid, then I put the ground meat into the roasting pan, pour everything on top, and mix with a potato masher or my hands.

It has made a huge difference in Willie's coat... I've run out of protein (we use venison...free from my dad!), so I've added some canned food into his diet. He's not quite as fluffy, and i'm noticing a return of his dandruff (only a little), which had disappeared for the first time in like a decade on raw. Though that could be the weather getting drier as well....

Hope you guys have a good night!
