Simon is doing well this morning, all P's in place. The only thing bad he has done is continue to poop on the carpet in my living room. I thought it was because I changed the type of litter I was using, but he has started back with the pooping again. Very aggravating. This happened before and the way I got him to stop doing it was to put his food bowl on the spot he was defecating on and feed him there. I always heard that animals won't eat where they go to the bathroom (might be an old wives tale) but at least it worked. I'm going to try it again starting today.

Just got back from Cleo's vet visit. She was such a good girl and the vet was pleased at how well she is doing. She was exactly the same weight she was 3 months ago, so that is good. I know with CRF kitties that it is important they continue to eat and not lose weight. Blood was drawn and urine sample attempted. She peed just when they were trying to draw the urine up, so they only got a small sample. Hopefully, that will be enough. I don't want to make her go back again so soon. She does need a dental but I am so nervous about how I am going to pay for it. How does everyone do it with all the expensive tests, etc.? I wish I had pet insurance!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Hi guys .. glad to hear all is well with simon .. sorry to hear about the pooping problem ..Mocha does that as well, but it's always in front of her LB and most often, when she is mad at us for leaving or not paying attention to her .. It's weird .. I hope the food placement helps stop it ..

Glad to hear Cleo's weight is holding up well .. Hoping for good test results!

have a great weekend guys!

Now that is a masterful stroke of cat psychology! Hope it redirects attention to the lb.

I hear you on the expenses!! Good luck!

Re: 10/14 Simon AMPS 115 +5.5 94

Karrie, oh dear, I'm not sure why the vet did the urine. I was assuming that it is important to do a urine test for CRF kitties (not sure why). They were also going to do a urine culture, too to rule out any infection.

Here is a video of Simon and Cleo today outside enjoying the sunshine. I was trying to turn the camera off at the end but ended up with a nice long shot of my sandels! You can hear Cleo's sweet little meow on the video. I tried to get her to talk more, but she was playing shy today. Not too exciting of a video but I thought you might enjoy seeing Cleo, too.

Hi Georgia, that is pretty smart with placing the food bowl where Simon was defacating, and glad it worked. I wonder why he does it! Maggie did it once not that long ago, and I was so surprised. She hasn't done it since. I would not recommend the Innova, unless you find one that says no grain. For some reason I thought it was Evo and didn't read the ingredients close enough. It has brown rice in it - carbs! It willl work for Maggie as a mc though, as it didn't spike her as much as I thought! I know you and I have fuds problems with our kitties! I can't wait to see the video of Cleo and Simon. Are you feeding Cleo a special diet for his renal disease? I'm so sorry Cleo needs a dental. The Vets here always have a few months where they give a discount on dentals. I was wondering if you Vet does the same. Every time Maggie has a dental, it is so expensive.

Re: 10/14 Simon AMPS 115 +5.5 94 video

Your video just made my day!!!!! I love them both. Cleo is so adorable and I just love seeing Simon and his white feet.

Re: 10/14 Simon PMPS 79 video

I know I probably always sound like I'm harping on arthritis in everyone's condos, and really I'm just learning about it myself, but I have heard that arthritis can lead to LB issues...it hurts for them to "squat" normally. Soooo...I'm wondering if that's a possible reason why Simon pooped on the carpet...just one of those crazy ways cats send messages.....

Amy, you may be right about the arthritis, although Simon has had this issue in the past so I'm not sure. I think it might be because he gets mad when he looks out the patio door and we won't let him out. He sees his girlfriend, Rosie (the neighbor's cat) out there and wants to go out too. Where he poops is right near the patio door so I am thinking there might be a correlation. Of course, I may be just playing cat psychologist. I definitely know he has some arthritis issues so it could be both issues together.

Simon is surfing the lower numbers so he is getting lots of mini meals right now. He is very happy about this!

LOVE the video!!!! They are both so adorable!!! Simon is a big boy and I am very partial to calicos. Cleo looks great.

Hmmmm...did you get my PM the other day when I explained about why the urine and checking the USG? I never heard back from you but sent a detailed explanation about giving fluids the night before..pros/cons, etc.

Anxious to see how her numbers are.

Simon....great cycle today.

Loved the video - it is always so nice to see out kitties in action. I really must do one of Mannie and the troops. They both look great!

It sounds like all went well with Cleo's vetty appt. And I hear you on the costs of tests, etc... It is the same for us.

Simon's Numbers sure have been great!

Thanks for posting the video, Georgia. I love Simon's white feet with one gray toe. They both love being outside, don't they? Such a nice day too. Have a good weekend!
