Her belly is still really round. I feel so bad for her - this is just stressing me out so much right now. Some more LB activity, but just a little. The vet told me to give it 2 - 3 days to see how she was feeling. It's not 2 days yet, but I know she's uncomfortable. I hate this.

She licked at breakfast today and then moved on. I force fed, but not feeding as much - just to get some calories in her.

Re: 10/14 Kasha AMPS 184, 133 @ 2.6 Vet update

Not looking good. She's full of fluid. It may be a different cancer. He feels this is unrelated to the lymphoma or chemo.

She's getting an abdominal ultrasound to get more info.

At this point, I highly doubt we will be treating anything they find. I feel like all this is happening to test me to see how much I'm willing to put her through. And I'm not willing to put her thru any more.

Re: 10/14 Kasha AMPS 184, PMPS 196 Vet update

So - that PMPS had food behind it. She got home, jumped out of the car and kept going to the neighbor's house. I took some videos of her on my phone. I finally picked her up and put her on her porch. She hopped up the stairs and went into the bathroom - I thought to lie down, but actually it was to eat some greenies in the bowl there. I then found an unopened sample bag of EVO dry food and poured some into a bowl for her and she ate most of it (just a few spoonfuls, but whatever - enough that I will skip force feeding her right now).

The vet report says in part : "...Radiographs of the abdomen showed loss of serosal detail consistent with fluid accumulation in her abdomen. Abdominal ultrasound showed moderate amount of fluid and with small serosal nodules throughout her organs. Fluid analysis was submitted and results are pending. To make Kasha more comfortable we removed 200 cc of abdominal fluid.

"My concern is that Kasha's fluid could be related to a malignancy. Fluid analysis may provide the type of process. If the fluid is positive for a malignancy, the only treatment to consider is chemotherapy - either systemic or in her abdominal cavity (intracavitary)."

He said he could hospitalize her, but why, when he knew I could care for her myself at home. The exit info sheet I get when I leave says:

Diagnosis: Lymphoma - nasal - complete remission
Abdominal effusion - concern for carcinomatosis

I was instructed to give her 100 ml squids daily and continue the metoclopramide. He said that he didn't want to prescribe a diuretic, because it wasn't that kind of fluid - or rather, the cause wasn't something a diuretic could really help. It would only dehydrate her. He asked if I could continue to force feed her and I said yes - but obviously she snacked by herself on kibble at dinner.

She's a much smaller cat now than she was when we left. She seems more comfortable at least.

We are hoping to have the results of the fluid analysis by tomorrow. I just don't think I can put her through any more treatment.

Wow - BF sure picked an optimal time to exit stage left... I say stage left, because I really can't imagine it's right.

I am glad that some of the fluid was removed from Kasha's abdomen, so she should be feeling a lot better now.

Re: 10/14 Kasha AMPS 184, PMPS 196 Vet update

Dear Krys and Kasha,
Thinking of you tonight. We are thankful that the draining of the fluid made Kasha more comfortable and that she felt well enough to eat on her own. I am so sorry that you have to be going through this. All good thoughts and prayers for a good night for dear Kasha (and for you, too, Krys).
Many hugs,
Ella

My parents stopped by to drop off some food. Kasha made a break for it - running down the stairs after them. I haven't seen her move that quickly in a long time - I think she's trying to run away, she's obsessed with being outside and she keeps heading toward the sidewalk or the street, which she never does. So, we went and hung out in the dark outside for a while till she decided to come in.

I went out and bought her some kibble - Wilderness, by Blue. She used to like it a lot. Very small kibble so she can get it down fairly easily. And you can add water and heat it to make a nice gravy. Since it doesn't really matter now if it's good for her - she pretty much is getting whatever she wants. She had some half and half too. Last night she ate some butter.

I just told someone it feels like I'm preparing to have part of my soul amputated. No, on second thought, that's not right. Not part of it.

(((((Krys))))) I know what you mean. It hurts like nothing else. Sending you strength...

Krys, I am so sorry that the vet visit now added another thing to your already loaded plate. I am glad that they were able to get some fluid out of Kasha to help make her more comfortable. It sounds like she is feeling better, she's running, wanting to go outside, wanting to hang outside and eating. Take it a day at a time and spend as much quality time with Kasha. Hopefully they will find nothing that can't be helped with the analysis.

Sending healing vines and lot of hugs to you two.

(((((krys))))
yes, it does feel like your soul is being ripped right out of your body. it hurts so bad.
i'm sorry you and kasha are going through this...

((((((Krys))))))) (((((((Kasha)))))))

The two of you are in my thoughts and prayers....Sending your loads of hugs to help carry you and Kasha through this difficult time.
