Try to keep your hopes up until you know more. Amazing thing these wild creatures who let us keep them in houses. They are still cautious predators and hopefully after a little time out in the wild he'll realize how good he had it and come stumbling home.

I hope you find JoJo. :bighug: You will both be in my thoughts. I'm so sorry, Tina. :bighug::bighug:
JoJo, please come home safe and sound. You have everyone worried right now.

If you haven't already, try sprinkling some of his litter from his litterbox around outside. That helped me catch a kitty who wandered out once. He didn't go far. JoJo may be close by. It's usually easier to find them when it gets quiet and dark. Shine a flashlight around too because it might catch a glint from his eye. And check hiding spots like underneath decks, etc. Any space he may be able to fit into.

Is Jojo used to being outside?

Exclusively indoor cats who accidentally get out usually don’t go very far — at least not immediately. If they run after something or get chased, though, they might be a bit farther away.

I suggest you put food outside around the house and look in all bushes and shrubs, underneath storage sheds and decks, around neighboring houses/yards, etc. Most will stay relatively close and find a place to hunker down and hide (again, assuming he’s not used to being outside).

You might also put out some clothing you’ve worn that has your scent on it as well as a used litter box and one of his cat beds. Choose semi-secluded areas where he would feel safe going, not in wide open areas.

Scared cats (again, assuming he’s not used to being outside) often hesitate to move much initially but eventually have to, and will often make the move at night time. Going out at dusk or after dark with a flashlight and calling softly often works. Remember to pause between calls to listen.

If no luck, I strongly urge you to print out some flyers and distribute to your neighbors, as well as post the flyers in various locations in your neighborhood and local stores, if any. And post to Facebook if you’re a member of any local groups.

Finally, if you do find him, fight the urge to chase him— that might frighten and send him farther away. Talk to him quietly and maybe sit down and call him to you. Smelly food can be helpful. Gently pick him up and maybe quickly wrap him in a blanket so he can’t escape (or bite/scratch you) before you get back to the house.

Good luck. I hope you find him quickly.

:bighug: Such a horrible feeling when a fur baby is missing. Vyktor didn’t come home one night, it was the worst. I plastered the neighbourhood with missing signs the next day and as a result of that someone did call me and I got him back. I hope JoJo is home with you very soon.

Oh Tina! I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondered why we hadn't heard from you in a while!

I'm so sorry to hear about Jojo! But I think he's not far! Luci slipped out of the hotel room once when we'd stopped overnight in Tennessee..we were exhausted and didn't realize that she'd gotten out until around 3:30 a.m. - I woke up and asked DH where is Luci??? From that point on there was no sleeping...I got up and went outside and walked all around the hotel property - in the back where the parking lot, dumpsters, etc. were...all the while calling out Luci's name..callilng and calling and walking around...Finally I got back to the front door...and went to the car...still calling...well you know where she was? Huddled underneath a car RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR! She'd watched me go by, calling and calling..and said nothing....finally I was so distraught I was going to go back inside...and I called and heard this little 'squeak'...LUCI? IS that YOU? She came out and looked at me like I was nuts! So I gathered her up and took her back in...and showed her to the front desk clerk - saying, this is MY cat...did you see her last night? Oh yep, we saw that one, she was hissing at some of the other guests, so we kicked her out! I said, SHE'S A REGISTERED GUEST! Needless to say, they removed the 'pet fee' for that stay...apologized and from that point on Luci wears a collar and we're extra cautious about that room door...she's slippery though and waits for opportunities to slip outside...only problem that time it didn't go so well for her...so I think he's close by...just follow some of those suggestions that JL and Chip made...all excellent and wait...I'll bet he shows up as soon as that female knocks him in the nose a couple of times...

Hang in there Tina! And keep us posted please :) Sending prayers for a quick return of Jojo! :bighug:

I was SO HAPPY to read this as soon as I got up this morning!

CONGRATULATIONS on getting that fellow home where he belongs! Watch those doors, he sounds like a slippery little dude! Luci is bad about it too...I have to always watch the outer doors close before I can walk away...

Have a great day!
