Is Jojo used to being outside?
No Jojo is terrified of gojng outside he was a stray kitten I found at work who was starving . I think he only had one thing in his silly mind at the time . I guess he learned woman are not worth it lol !
Exclusively indoor cats who accidentally get out usually don’t go very far — at least not immediately. If they run after something or get chased, though, they might be a bit farther away.
I suggest you put food outside around the house and look in all bushes and shrubs, underneath storage sheds and decks, around neighboring houses/yards, etc. Most will stay relatively close and find a place to hunker down and hide (again, assuming he’s not used to being outside).
You might also put out some clothing you’ve worn that has your scent on it as well as a used litter box and one of his cat beds. Choose semi-secluded areas where he would feel safe going, not in wide open areas.
Scared cats (again, assuming he’s not used to being outside) often hesitate to move much initially but eventually have to, and will often make the move at night time. Going out at dusk or after dark with a flashlight and calling softly often works. Remember to pause between calls to listen.
If no luck, I strongly urge you to print out some flyers and distribute to your neighbors, as well as post the flyers in various locations in your neighborhood and local stores, if any. And post to Facebook if you’re a member of any local groups.
Finally, if you do find him, fight the urge to chase him— that might frighten and send him farther away. Talk to him quietly and maybe sit down and call him to you. Smelly food can be helpful. Gently pick him up and maybe quickly wrap him in a blanket so he can’t escape (or bite/scratch you) before you get back to the house.
Good luck. I hope you find him quickly.
