Good morning!

Yesterday's condo

10/12 AMPS=121; +2.5=131; +6=155
10/12 PMPS=160; +2=110; +4=106; +8.5=128

10/13 AMPS=121; +2=88; +3=83; +4.5=97; +6.5=121
10/13 PMPS=130; +2=108; +4=131

Late condo, but I am still sooooo sleepy.....
I finally bought a caliper yesterday, and started figuring it out at 11pm thinking it would take an hour or so.
I was still measuring syringes at 3am!
I'm just trying to find the closest mm in 1 unit, which I can use to calculate different units with minimum margin.
(So far, I'm getting 1 unit = 1.4 mm with BD syringes.)
I'm going to play with it some more today because I want to start using it at the next dosecrease, which might come tomorrow.

I put out a dosecrease threat in yesterday's condo, but I'm pretty sure this morning's green numbers are not because of it.
I'm pretty sure it's because of the sub-q fluids I gave her last night.
She always does this kind of green in the next cycle following a sub-q fluids.

Lucy is feeling good.
I kept going back to bed this morning and she wet MEEAAAOOOW! very loudly a few times, wanting food or attention.
It's nice to hear her speak up.
The best news today is that she had an unmistakably solid poo in normal volume this morning!!!

I hope everyone's having a nice day today!

Re: 10/13 Lucy AMPS=121;+2=88;+3=83;+4.5=97

Sounds like Lucy is feeling better.
Paws crossed that it continues....

and good numbers are good.... fluids or not.

Re: 10/13 Lucy AMPS=121;+2=88;+3=83;+4.5=97

Thank you, Rhiannon. You are right, good numbers are good!
I know, Lara, that condo is what got me go shopping for a caliper yesterday in the first place.
I got 1unit = 1.4mm with my caliper, so I'll have to go by that, which is a little annoying, to get a different measurements from Wendy's 1.6mm.
Thus 4 hours of syringe measuring last night.

Re: 10/13 Lucy AMPS=121;+2=88;+3=83;+4.5=97

Are you giving the insulin in a different location from the fluids?

Re: 10/13 Lucy AMPS=121;+2=88;+3=83;+4.5=97;6.5=121

BJM - When I was still in Health, you gave me this great advice of giving fluids at the scruff and insulin towards the hind end, and also on the other side of the body if possible. (very grateful for this advice)
So I always keep that in mind and follow that the best I can when her numbers are a bit tighter.
But when her numbers have room to drop, like the past couple of days, I loosen this rule and give insulin somewhere in the middle of her body - maybe around her waste if a cat has a waste, because she really hates being poked closer to her bumbum.

Nice numbers for Lucy today. I'm glad she's feeling good and yay on the solid poo. I think you'll like the calipers once you get the dosing figured out. I love using them for Furball.

Re: 10/13 Lucy AMPS=121;+2=88;+3=83;+4.5=97;6.5=121

Woohoo for good poo! Maybe that's why Lucy was so vocal this morning...she wanted to spread the word!

Have a great evening, Mariko!!

Hi Mariko,

Lucy is having great numbers today, and a perfectly formed/sized poo!! Good news! I will be interested to hear how you like the calipers. I always think about getting them, but not sure if I could handle them. I printed out Ann/Tess caliper instructions, just in case I do ever try. Good luck!

mr greenie is wondering why he's not getting to play on Lucy's condo, so i have brought him out!

looking great today!

Re: 10/13 Lucy AMPS=121;+2=88;+3=83;+4.5=97;6.5=121

Mariko sent me a PM asking about a dose increase. I suggested that she consider fattening Lucy's dose.

Looking Great Miss Lucy   And congrats on the perfect poo :thumbup
Good luck with the calipers and dosecrease.
Have a great night Mariko!

Re: 10/13 PMPS=130

Calipers are a pain to figure out but helpful for more consistent doses. Detective Poo is always glad to read a good report.

Re: 10/13 PMPS=130

Thank you for putting the Mr. Green, Julie.
But he's off duty at the moment. :-D

Thank you Sienne for your help today.
I'm most likely be taking the increase by fattening.
Which is perfect, because her current 0.75 unit by eyeballing is more than 0.75 unit measured by the caliper due to inaccurate zero line on syringes.
So if I start 1 unit measured by the caliper from tomorrow, it will be same as fattening the current dose.

I'll have to spend some more time tonight with my new calipers to make sure I can do this right.....
I'll report back how I like using it!
Thank you for all your cheering about her solid poop!

Re: 10/13 Lucy PMPS=130;+2=108

Don't stay up too late playing with the calipers!  The amount of mm in one unit doesn't need to be consistent between beans, it just has to be consistent when you dose.

Good luck with the small increase!
