Compounded gabapentin question, it says to keep refrigerated, it got left on the counter last night. Anyone with experience know if it is still good or do I need to fill another script for it?

Met with the new vet today and like him better then the old one. He was a little more on the ball and said "It REALLY sounds like you've done your homework" understatement of the year.:D All thanks to the community here.:D:D:D

Jack let one rip in the office and the vet and asst. both looked at each other first, I had to chime in and say no, it was the cat:p

We reviewed the test results the last vet didn't call back about. GI panel is ordered and on its way and his weight is steady compared to the last visit, might have been bathroom related, but at least not losing more weight. Based on the results of the GI , if nothing stand out, we may start a trial of Nudesonide to see if it helps absorption in the GI tract. Overall a pretty good vetty visit, just hoping we can find some answers soon. Biopsy and some of the other tests are just too much for me right now with a new house potentially looming.:(

Hope all are doing good and Jack could use some good GI panel vines that shed some light on the situation.

I wonder if changing proteins to a more novel protein in the food might help, any thoughts? He currently gets turkey almost exclusively.

Glad you had a good visit. Too funny about Jack letting one go :joyful: Changing proteins is likely a good first step. It's not unheard of for them to develop issues to one protein. Chicken and Turkey are more common than not. Ziwi Peak changed Doodles whole GI situation but it came with a hefty price tag and it's gone up even more:mad:

I'm not sure about the gaba but my guess is it's fine unless there was specific instructions about refrigeration. Sending GI panel vines and prayers. Jack....what's up with those numbers buddy:confused::D

The gaba is supposed to be refrigerated, not sure how 12 hours on the counter will affect it, 76 degrees in the house, compared to 40ish for the fridge. I'll give the compounding pharmacy a call and see what they think.

I swear he has anti-vet stress, he seems to drop after vet visits. He's a weird cat but I already knew that.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully the gi panel results Monday give some answers. The vet liked the idea of doing a steroid trial if nothing stands out with the GI panel. I'm also going to try to find a different food to with a novel/different protein.

At least his weight was steady over the last 2 weeks according to the vet which was good.

The refrigeration depends whether an oil or water base is used for the meds. The pharmacist should know.

Glad to hear you have a more responsive vet. Neko did well on budesonide and it didn't impact her numbers. She also dropped at the vet.

LOL:joyful:

Glad you found a vet you like. Seems like many here have to go through a few to find the right one;). Not losing weight is great news.
