Samwise traveled the rainbow bridge this afternoon. Good bye my sweet boy. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: He will be sadly missed by me and the DH.

Sammy was pushing 20 and had not been doing to well lately. He was eating fine but was doing some staggering when walking. He was using his box and still going outside for walks. Poor boy, it happened pretty suddenly, he just couldn't get up or walk. We knew then that it was time. We will miss him. We still have his sister, Baggins, who is quite the little grumpy ***** cat. Thank goodness she never succumbed to diabetes, she would have been hell to test and give shots to. We also have our other civvies, Oliver and Roxy. I'll miss that boy. He was always so good about his tests and injections, never bit or got cranky. Just a good kitty! :YMSIGH: Thank you all, it means a lot to us.

Chip will miss his buddy, thanks for hangin out with us, that was a lot of condos just since we arrived on the scene.
Hope DH is doing well. Give Baggins a hug (if she'll take it) along with Oliver and Roxy. :YMHUG:

I'm SO SO sorry it was Samwise's time to cross but what a life full of love. Remember, he's not gone, you just have to hug him differently.

The vet even told me that most people who have a diabetic cat usually only give their cats a year. I couldn't believe that. I gave Sammy at least 6. I don't know it may have been less I'll have to look. But really if you give your sugar cat a year you are just not a good parent. I'm sure most had them put to sleep. Our Sam was in pretty rough shape, he had no muscle left, was very dehydrated, but was still eating! HIs kidneys were also very small.Poor guy at least he's out of pain and not having to endure any more pokes. wings_cat

oh sue, i'm so very sorry! i didn't realize he was 20 - that's incredible! i've never had a cat make it past 16 - you were a good mom to him. fly free little samwise. you are loved!

Thank you Marje. I miss my Sam boy. Oliver our civvie misses him too. They were buddies, liked to lay on the same bed and in the sun together. Oliver misses him I can tell. :cry:
