Hi,

We've been on this dose for 7 days now and have not seen any movement (apart from some blues which in retrospect I think were still in the influence of previous dose), so I'm thinking of going back to 3.75u tonight.

I am still considering switching to Levemir to try to flatten out his AM and PM levels. They are too high. I showed Macka's SS to a human friend who's diabetic (and on Lantus) and she was shocked to see that he was actually curving, instead of just being plain flat in good numbers. She told me that in her opinion, he metabolizes the insulin too fast.

I stopped trying to stuff him with food for calories, since his radiologist said he was "mildly" overweight. He now eats when he feels like it, and the amount he wants, not more. Not sure he is losing weight but he definitely eats less.

Oh, another question: I have been using the same Lantus vial since the beginning, which is June 15. Should I change it now?

Yes, I would increase again. Paws crossed he doesn’t dive this time.

Many people use their vials six months. Does the insulin look fine, clear, no floaties?

I agree with Wendy...time for an increase

I used my vial of Lantus for almost 10 months - refrigerated the whole time. And it was effective until the last drop.
