Good morning everyone :coffee: AMBG was 76 and I had to make a split decision (due to waking up late) and skipped. After a late night of testing and waking up during the night to test, when my alarm went off this morning I must have rolled over shut it off and went back to sleep….and then didn't wake up my son…so he missed the bus and I had to drive him to school late :rolleyes: so we're off to rocky start this morning!

It was suggested to me that next time inject maybe I should try .1. I'm a little nervous about micro dosing. I know a while ago someone posted with pictures about how to do small dosing and I can't remember where I saw it. If anyone has advice or a link to that I would really appreciate. Those micro-doses were even a little daunting for me, and I'm a vet tech so I use insulin syringes daily at work! We just don't do anything in between the lines, LOL. But, once I started doing them with Darwin, I realized they weren't SO bad.

For my .1 I was drawing the plunger to the bottom of the zero line, so if I tilted it slightly I could see a sliver daylight between plunger and line. That's how I eyeballed it.
 
So, I did give Fluffles .1 tonight :nailbiting: I'm hoping he doesn't take me for a ride, I was exhausted today after last night and have a long day at work tomorrow. But after seeing his am numbers start to creep back up in the blues I decided it was time to stop being such a chicken! And I think I even did a pretty decent job with the .1 dose. Thanks to @Mandy & Rex and @SarahNOLA! Hope all your kitties are doing great!
 
I know! You can't really even feel the plunger move when you inject. My next job is to teach my son how to do it. I'm away away for a pm dose and an am dose next weekend (the 21st). He's 12 and historically not very responsible :rolleyes: but I'm hoping he can rise to the challenge. I'm not sure yet how he will do, but we will work on it over the next week. He's injected once with me preparing the dose and holding the skin and did alright so we'll see how it goes

That's on the agenda too, but I'm working on one thing at time with him. He won't be staying at the house so he won't be able to test regularly, so I will only have him inject if his ps number are on the higher the side and depending what the spreadsheet looks like this week with the .1u dose. I'd rather just skip than worry about him going too low with no one around
 
Wow!! Good shooting!!!

Did you ever get your BOS award?? We give it out the first time someone shoots a green PS (so we're already late if you haven't gotten it yet!!)

SO I guess Fluffles has earned earned another reduction, where do we go from .1u or should I try to to stick with this dose for a while? Wish I was able to follow TR but can't due to my work schedule
 
at this point, you could try an OTJ trial.....Fluffles isn't doing things the way he's supposed to, but he wouldn't be the first cat to refuse to read the manual on how this is supposed to work!!

Worst case scenario, you go back on insulin for awhile longer!!

Here are the OTJ trial instructions:

Start the trial on the next green pre shot.

If he/she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time; just feed small meals and go about your day. If he/she is blue at your normal "PS", feed a small meal and test again after about 3 or 4 hours. If his/her number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then the pancreas is working!

Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. He/she may have a sporadic blue number. Don't panic but post before you decide whether to shoot so we can have a discussion.

After 14 days of no insulin, we have a party!!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens; we just give him/her the support needed. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

OMG wow ok, we'll give it a try! So happy Fluffles is doing well and feeling well! Fingers crossed but definitely prepared to jump back in with the insulin if necessary! Feeling cautiously optimistic that whether or not it works this time we are headed for remission! :nailbiting::D This site and all of you are such amazing, wonderful people to help the way you do!! It's invaluable, I can't say enough how appreciative I am! Go Fluffles! :D
