Owen has earned a reduction :cat:
The TR Protocol is an aggressive method in itself. The modified version of the protocol is slightly more aggressive. Let's keep all our kitties in the Lantus, Levemir, & Biosimilars ISG safe by taking reductions when appropriate.
  • If kitty drops below 40 (long term diabetic) or 50 (newly diagnosed diabetic) reduce the dose by 0.25 unit.

She needs to test in 20-30 minutes and then even if up again in 20-30. He needs to be 2 hours without hc and above 50 to be able to stop testing.

Waiting until +4 to test was not a good idea. She needs to get a +2-3 and feed mc to prevent a drop under 50. The +2 is often onset and if lower than the reshot means you could have an active cycle . If the same as the reshot it might be active. She needs to feed the curve to avoid bouncing and going back and forth between doses and keep Owen safe. While nice that a reduction was earned that was not what you want to happen. He needs to spend as much time as possible in blue and green to prevent bouncing and allow for the pancreas to heal.

I absolutely get it this is a failure- we need to stop this constant pattern of bouncing and this low is really going to set us back.

I asked for a +2 as I suspected we might get a drop today. Unfortunately I am not doing the testing so I probably should have gone over there and insisted on a test when I didn’t hear beck from Kris by +3. This middle man thing has been difficult.

Okay every 30 minutes- got it! I will ask now. Good to know about the 2 hours without HC criteria.

Kyle. I would print out for the cg how to handle low numbers and the part on the basics sticky that shows an active cycle. Cats often respond to the second or third dose after an increase but it can happen on the first cycle or 6th or later. Every cat is different.

I have done this but it wouldn’t hurt for us to review it together. We are now at 66. I was reading your post re: Jasper (sorry we are keeping you busy today). Should we keep feeding mc and testing every 30 until we get above 70? Or what so you suggest at this point?

She’s using a pet meter so her number is around 70. With a human meter reductions are under 50. If Owen stays flat 2 hours without hc or mc and in 60’s or higher he’s ok.

Thank you for your help. I think we will switch to lc and see if he stays flat for the next 2 hours.
 
As we move forward tonight (back at 0.1) I am thinking we should try MC fir the first few hours of each cycle to give Owen more of a glide path into lower numbers. Of course we will likely be dealing with a bounce for at least the next several days. Thanks again @tiffmaxee for your assistance today :bighug:
