Thanks for the tips on how to deal without power. Fortunately the lights were back on by his next test and a good thing too as I might have been inclined to skip a test since he ate. The dive was not expected.
Again I was glad he ate when he hit 50 as I dosed off and didn't test again for 1 1/2 hours. If he dropped any lower I'll never know unless he bounces.
